RC Adventures – Paradise Crawlin’ Part 2 – Custom Losi MRC “The Spider” – Mexico

RCSparks Studio Photography

Wow, its my absolute pleasure to present to you the next Chapter in the 2011 “Paradise Crawlin’” RCSparks.com video series. A rare treat that I can bring to you from some of my travels. It’s almost too much to bear – as any Radio Controlled Hobby enthusiast would understand the gravity of being able to Rock Crawl on the coast of Eden.

This is the second release in the recent trip to Cancun Mexico – really known for the EXTREME Parties that go on there – but not for the immaculate areas for using a custom build, EXTREMELY expensive high end Radio Controlled Robot.. Lol. I smuggled this little fella (legally in my luggage), across 3 country borders… waiting for the border patrol on either side to seize my luggage…

Truly Spectacular folks..

A quiet man boards a plane for Mexico City… no one knows he is carrying a 1-of-a-kind Custom Mini Rock Crawler – neatly packed away in his checked luggage, stored in the belly of the Boeing Jet… He seems an ordinary man.. yet there is something odd about him. to the other passengers he seemed to be a man with a hidden secret….

No one knows he is addicted to Radio Control, and is heading to Eden to Rock Crawl some of the coolest terrain in the world…

The journey had begun.. and the story was unfolding…

“The Spider” Custom MRC Crawling Cancun Mexico, 2011

RCSparks Studio Photography

Well my friends.. I am back from our filming trip in Mexico. For those of you “just tuning in” to this story – The RCSparks Studio has been in Cancun Mexico filming a custom built Mini Rock Crawler – built as a collaborative effort by Forum members Stilist, Crawler Ted, and myself – RCSparks.

The one-of-a-kind “Spider” chassis was build and designed by Stilist, an experienced rock crawler based out of Calgary Alberta, along with Ted, owner of the infamous “Ted’s Garage & The Calgary Crawlers RC Crew” Purpose built for crawling coral and jagged rocks.. we out fitted this custom crawler with MIP steel driveshafts, custom cut Proline 1.9 Flat Iron Tires, a Tekin FXR ESC, A Castle Creations BEC, an upgraded losi brushed motor, and much much more. I travelled more than 6,013 km to our destination spot. I was able to visit exquisite coral reefs, capture jaw dropping crawling spots, and take you to one of the 8 Wonders of the World.. the Mayan Ruins in Chichen Itza, Mexico. and This rig was exceptional to photograph and film in action.

RCSparks Travels Abroad

RCSparks Studio Photography

Ok my friends.. its that time of the year when the RCSparks Studio heads out on location to do some far away RC filming. Monday, heading down south into Mexico, I will attempt to take a custom made crawler (built by one of the RCSparks forums members) – past the border without the Airport confiscating it because its so darn cool…. lol. I will also be testing some new 3D technology while Im there .. to really get the viewers “into” the action. The 3D videos (if all goes to plan) will be available on Youtube and RCSparks for all to Enjoy at no cost, of course!

Video production on Youtube will be on hold as I wont be editing any videos while Im away. So I thought leaving this this post for all to know why the videos have temporarily stopped would be appropriate – but rest assured.. there will some amazing videos when upon my return!

I will be posting some photos here of the film shoot for you guys to follow along with.. so check back for latest updates! For more information on last years film shoot, or of the Amazing Spider Mini Crawler, Click Here!

Well there are certain perks to running an RC Film studio. I get to see some really cool ideas come from conception, and watch them be produced into a fantastic product. Today I get to share with you one of these awesome pieces of human imagination built by a fellow rock crawling enthusiast. Im going to refer to the builder by his RCSparks Forum name.. “Stilist”. To precede the upcoming crawler specs – please allow me to speak a little about the builder of “The Spider”.

The RCSparks Studio has been told that the word “Stilist” comes from a Russian term, (with a rough translation), of someone who takes a created product – and makes it into a Number 1 item by redesigning it.. Well the name fits this particular builder quite well. He is a long term hobby enthusiast that has been building and re-designing created products for years. Apart from designing extremely capable rigs, Stilist is a Calgary, Canada known RC Rock Crawling Champion, and is always looking – even searching – for products to improve, making them function far beyond normal expectations. Well what better place to endulge a skill like his – than in the expansive hobby of Radio Control! Read more below on this great crawler design…

Back To Mexico for a Film Shoot

The RCSparks Crew is on it’s way back to Cancun Mexico around the end of February / March area.   We have decided to return to the tropical paradise as the scenery is simply breathe taking and spectacular for a fun new series. Last year, we took down a Losi Mini Rock Crawler and had a blast.  Completely stock, except for the Bug Body from Proline Racing.   Here is a picture of the Bug posing for the Camera in the Caribbean Eden…
