You will get a ton of opinions with no clear answer.
Here is my opinion. The slash 4x4 is a given as one of the best. The hpi blitz was my favorite basher until I sold it. The losi ten scte is great cuz it uses many 1/8 scale components. For that matter I've read that 1/8 buggies are the best for bashing as they are really built well. Then you always have the erevo and stampede from traxxas. .

I have a slash 4x4 and I have jumped it 12 feet in the air repeatedly off a tree at my dads for over a year! And haven't actually Brocken anything. I have beat the actual crap out of this truck and the only thing I have ever had to fix and replace was the rear bearing where the slipper clutch goes. And the plastic retaining washer thingy. I put an aluminum one in and a new sealed bearing and no issues! I have not even replaced the servo. And man I have not been easy in that at all. I can't stress enough of how bad I have beat this thing. Just shy of running it over with a real vehicle. In my personal opinion I'd say its safe to say it bullet proof. If you know how to drive one. For example obviously don't drive 60mph into a wall directly..... Hit it on an angle at least AHAHAHHAHA.

    Anyways just my $.02

I am also a slash 4x4 owner, and it's a beast.! Any rc you buy for bashing will need few upgrades for longevity but as a slash owner I must say with a few minor upgrades its bulletproof .!

Ohh and the slash 4x4 is VERY easy to work on... A must for a basher IMO ..!!!

don't forget about the 1/16 erevo!!!! they can take a beating as well!!! the only thing ive broke on mine was the center drive shaft got a rock stuck next to it and wore through it! my son who is 7 ran it full speed in to a poll and it was fine! id say all traxxas offroad rc's are great for bashing!! great part support, and inexpensive stock parts and endless suplys of after market parts. And the slash 4x4 is pretty much bullet proof until I put a mamba monster2 in it with a 2650 kv motor not missile proof

Any model Savage. I've broke waaaay more on my Slash than I have any one of my Savages. Best jumper IMO too.

i was looking around in the local hobby shop the other day. is the helion dominus 10sc like an off brand thing..? it comes with a 2.4ghz 3 channel radio, 4wd, all independent suspension, a battery, charger, esc, 550 motor, brushed motor. not sure about it. its only 200, compared to a good slash at 500+. but if this is a cheap thing, i wont even bother with it..

i would suggest the hpi savage flux hp i have one and it is very durable i have been frequently taking it down the skate getting up to maybe 20foot in the air and landing on flat concrete and i have only had to buy some wheels and wheel nuts and some screws so it is very tuff ! it also had the speed and the power !

Ideally, you gear the Savage for 45mph. For huge jumps and high speed on rough terrain, there really isn't much better than the Savage Flux. It can take insane amounts of abuse, it has more aftermarket support than any other RC, PERIOD, and it's so simple to work on, it's laughable. That said, it's SIX HUNDRED BLOODY DOLLARS for the truck, and the cheapest acceptable set of batteries is about $85 for 6S. Still, watching a 14lb truck rip a standing double backflip and then flying 40ft in the air is worth the money.

The Slash 4x4 is also a great truck, but it's not meant for the same type of running as the Savage. The small tires and relatively low clearance keep it out of the real rough stuff and deep grass. It's much better on smoother, bare ground and tracks. The long overhangs also mean stuff like standing backflips and freestyle stunts are right out, even with a big power upgrade. The aftermarket is pretty good, though stuff for the LCG chassis is pretty slow in coming out.

I've got one of each, and they're both good trucks. My Slash 4x4 is powered with a MMM2/2200kv and it flat out GITS. The Savage is almost 100% aftermarket now, after 4.5 years of being beaten like a yellow dog, and it's powered by a CC XL2 and a 1717 with a center differential conversion and a drivetrain that is now hardened steel from motor pinion to stub axle.

My Slash goes fast, and my Savage jumps high. Take your pick.

You can't go wrong with the Savages, I have the Hpi Savage X 4.6 and it has lots of power and it's extremely durable. There is tons of aftermarket parts for it also which is a big plus. I wouldn't suggest getting a short course truck because of its ground clearance problem.

start collecting copper wire , strip the Insulation off of it and save it until you have a car trunk full. I took a car trunk full last Friday and got $312.00

This question is like asking "what is the best 1:1 car to buy for drag racing"? You don't buy a drag racer, you build it. You don't buy a basher, you build it! You pick whatever suits your fancy, find out it's weak points and tweek from there.

on 6c lipo the savage flux hp goes 62mph,(100kph) the good thing about savages are they have a lot of upgrades. the flux hp can also do a double standing backflip on 6c (3c each side) on 4c it will do a standing backflip. (CRAZY POWER)

still a very hard decision lol because i like the idea and looks of the short course truck and what not, but i also want something very durable and good all around. i have plenty of time to think about it! haha but i am definitely considering the savage, being that its the cheaper of the two..
