Got my 2 sons (aged 4 and 6) the rtr rubicon for...

Got my 2 sons (aged 4 and 6) the rtr rubicon for xmas. They've had great fun with them up till now, with only a few upgrades done so far, those being all the aluminium upgrades for the front axle, and a holmes hobbies 35t motor.

This was there first outing on Boxing Day.
1st GoPro SCX10 - YouTube

Anyway have been umming and arring as to whether or not I should give them a proper paint job on the outside and make them a little more scale.

Last night decided yes, so stripped down, rubbed down, primered and painted the first one in Ford Dove Grey, looks a little creamy now but it turns grayer after a few days curing.
Going to recreate the black armour sections too.

This being the look I'm aiming for

Then I've ordered a couple of these to go on.

Next up I guess will be bumpers, sliders, links then at some point wheels and tires.

My 4 year old succesfully clearing and landing jumping 2 hiluxs at our last scale meeting.

As the title says this is going to be my 2013 TTC...

As the title says this is going to be my 2013 TTC truck. Everything but the axle gears, transmission and electronics have come from my spare parts....... Ill do a over view of it then ill get to the pictures!!!!

Scx10 axles. Rear axle is stock and front has Topcad chubs, knuckles and steering link rest is stock. X8 wraith plastic upper links for clearance. Scx10 shocks aluminum front and plastic rear, stock springs with 32w oil. Old school driveshaft's with retaining rings (I prefer them over the wild boar). I have made the chassis rails & braces out of 6mm puck board. Strong, lighter then metal and I can thread it!
I have a set of white Chevy 6 blolt rims from Rc4wd and Proline hammer tires!! Transmission is a Rc4wd AX-2 2speed with the heavy duty output shaft Upgrade!!!!!! From what I have seen that is the major week spot so took care of it :D Electronics are undecided but that's enough talk on to Pictures!!!!!

Transmission with HD shaft.

This is a something small I'm doing for a friends...

This is a something small I'm doing for a friends Wraith. He had this 70's Bronco body laying around and wanted to put it on his Wraith so here we go.First off was removing the exo cage from it.

Then we noticed with the cage gone we had to address the flex issue from no bracing,so to the bench I went, and came up with this for bracing.I had a straight edge made from 3/16" steel.Took it and chopped it to 16" long and started bending the angles.

I was thinking of doing some design in the brace, but I do carpentry not metal these days.So I made a make shift break with 2 2x4's and a c-clamp and my 20oz eastwing hammer.I broke out the 4" grinder and started cutting the width down so it don't hit the body and look big and bulky, and this is what I came back with.

There's one side down, time to see how the body fits and what mods to the body will have to be done.Luckily no mods were required to the body except the typical cuts for the bumper brackets. Here it sits with one side of the bracing done and the body mounted on.

I painted the brace with some black rustoleum rubberised under coating, but it looks kinda trashy so I might strip it off and go with flat black paint. Here's a pic of the brace for SNG painted up with rubberised under coating.

I should have some updates later today or tonight, hopefully with the it complete except paint on the body.

ive been wanting to build something like for...

ive been wanting to build something like for awhile, so i figure i give it shot .
ive started by buying a peice 1/4 inch styrene, this way i can bolt stuff to the floor.
right now im waiting the floor covering and the wall covering to come in, in the mean while
i started to build a working truck lift. fr the main post ive used 1 inch square stock with 2 actuators in them .
ive purchased a snap on toll box , which is really kool and highly detailed, also found a really kool engine hoist.
ive found some other stuff too. i believe everybody will like what ive in mine . the truck lift is going to really kool when done
so lets get started

axle question for scale build

Ok guys I have done some searching and came up...

Ok guys I have done some searching and came up with i really dont know with out having some parts in hand to measure. I am going to build a f-350 flatbed truck like mine i use on the farm. This was my first one ton so i am wanting it to be as close to scale as possible. My question is if I run the stock scx-10 rear end and a axle out of a wraith on the front would my wheels track correctly?
also would the wraith front be entirely to wide for the tamiya body? I am going to run rc4wd dually wheels and the tamiya bfgoodrich tires. The tires or 3 1/2 inches tall so that would be like a 35 which is what is on my 1:1 truck. i am trying to figure out how I can run the axial axles and keep it scale. I may end up trying to figure the gearing out on the tamiya semi truck axle and match a front axle to it. The wraith axle has the pumpkin on the right side so I thought it might work. just looking for thought n Ideas on this. I have ordered my body but could go with lexan f-250 body my buddy has and just cut the bed off, fab up somthing for a back {the headache rack will cover most of it} The 250 body is a little bigger than the tamiya body.

Hey guys so I am planning on building a 6x6...

Hey guys so I am planning on building a 6x6 pretty soon. Had a chat with my sister who is in the army about some of the 6x6 vehicles they have there. And I have decided to make this:

I made a large order today at tower for all the stuff I am going to need to do this build.

The rest I will be getting from RC4WD like the body which I will be buying soon.

Stay tuned for some more updates when I get the parts or if I have any updates for you guys. :)

I have decided against doing the Midnight Pumpkin...

I have decided against doing the Midnight Pumpkin attempt as failure is always my way of things....

So I will bring RCSPARKERS a Unique and different Shell for the SCX10 dingo/CF100 Kit.
Unique as in Paint job as I do not think this has EVER been attempted in The Trailing world

Clear Shell

Before the trimming begins...

As you can see in this pic the Wheel base is CLOSE.. a little rounding of the guards and it should be OK..
I will have to trim the shells front bar. With this shell I don't want it to loose its Identity so I have moved the winch bar down to a lower point which will reduce
Its off road ability a little... but thats why I made a custom bar mount so I can raise it for when I do competitive trailing and gain that extra centimetre of Front clearance...

Leaving it in the high position means the grill will be removed far too much for my liking and the Ford badge will be buried behind the winch.. Not the intention of this shell..
Its a trailing shell with style more then capability..

Started some time ago from 2 crawlers that were...

Started some time ago from 2 crawlers that were not my description of "fun".
I had a Maxstone 10 and Maverick Scout laying arround and I decided to make something special that no one has in my country (yet).

Build rules:
-light weight (chassis made from layered plexiglass and U profile aluminium bars)
-cost effective (all under or arround the 1000$ mark)
-must be fun to build (we all want it)
-set for TRIAL

So I started...

I made the parts using CorelDraw, went to my local laser enthusiasts to cut them from plexiglass and went to the hobby shop to buy some U shaped aluminium profiles.
I broke down my two crawlers and too the driveshafts, axles, center transmission, weels & tires.

So far, this is what I came up with:

so ... decided to finally pick some parts and just go 'nuts' build my own frame, in the arrangement I want instead of adapting existing things, and see if it works :D and also try and build something more competitive to the scale comps now being run locally

project is in it's infancy... still need to get ahold of a trans, and rims/tires so I can mock and build , but I have in my pile:

- Tamiya Tundra Cab
- Hpi mini trophy IFS/diff assembly
- Axial scx10 rear straight axle
- wraith axle links

on my list of waiting for is a Summit 2spd, and some 1.9 pitbulls on rims I haven't chosen yet.

basically... my own version of the twin hammers.... with a buncha of lights, and a work deck/box thing with 30kg 1/5th scale servos inside it for 'fun' :D

not very exciting yet... but heres the start of my IFS, solid rear, 2spd competition trail wrecker :D

TAMIYA Resurrecting F350 Highlift - Project Mall Crawler

okay, some may remember I was wondering what to...

okay, some may remember I was wondering what to do with this truck... I had planned to use it's bits in 3 different projects .. but those ideas got shot down in a way ...

I've always found the highlift with scale wheels to look goofy ... like a great big truck with way too much money spent on it to look cool and normally wearing massive tires... but they put the stock size winter tires on...

I've been thinking that I need a 'fun' truck .. not a basher, or a crawler... somewhere in between ... the trails we usually hit on sundays are moderate to easy (the kids come with us) ... so I wanted something more situated to that, and possibly tow a boat and/or car trailer later on.

so I decided to rebuild the highlift, with minimal modifications, but mods non the less...

at this point I'm just putting it back to running, near stock so I can decide what to do and if I want to put that much more into it.

proline 2.2 beadlocks, 5.4 inch tires (the ones that were originally on my war wagon, and the 4.3 inch tire foams ) .. had to perform a body lift in the simple form of flipping the cab mounts to the top of their mounts, and spacers for the box tilt. this was pretty much the perfect amount of body lift for the tires

again it's not a crawler, but its gotta have SOME flex ;)

mods in my brain are : trans/motor relocation kit, front shackle reversal, rc4wd revolver shackles ... and I think the 3spd trans will be a good match for the EZrun 32T brushless I have kicking around that needs a new ESC. I'll probably have to switch driveshafts and 'shocks' to suit above mods...

I also will be doing a smoke kit with exhaust stacks in the bed ;) and innder fenders/splash guards...

water proofing will be minimal ... considering theres just over 6inchs of clearance till water gets to anything electrical, and that's just the servo's ... there another couple inchs till the important expensive bits ;)

Losi night crawler scaler

Two years ago I was given a losi night crawler...

Two years ago I was given a losi night crawler for Christmas and after about 6 months it started having problems. Well I was given a scx10 for Christmas last year and after driving it and modding it. I recently decide I was going to turn my losi night crawler into a scaler, using the honcho body and making a custom chassis, bulbar, tray. I'm still going to use everything off the losi night crawler with the exception of the chassis and body. Well today I started building the tray and this is the result of the headboard.

It has not been welded together yet but I think it looks pretty good so far. I am using 6mm round bar to construct the chassis, tray an bulbar. If u are wondering what the big tubes are hanging down the side they will eventually be bend around and will become my sliders.

I have plans that this truck is going to be my mud truck and then my scx10 wont get so abused, which means I can keep in top condition. I will more updates to come soon. Damn this is going to be a fun build

Build thread for build #20 in the MrRangeRover1996 garage. Project JeepEeter.

I am using the Axial SCX10 chassis/suspension from "Spare Time", a custom Dingo/Land Rover pick up that I build about a year ago. The Body for this build will be a black Fast Lane 2010 Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography Edition.

Because of the width of the body, I have decided to mount the Axial fender flairs to this body. This will allow larger tires without sticking out past the body too far.

Not sure of the tire/wheel combo I will use, but for now I will use the Flatiron/8-hole that comes stock on the RTR Dingo. Also not sure of the electronics I will be using.

I shorten the wheelbase by using custom steel links and removed 1/8" from the chassis rails to allow the frame to sit inside the body.

progress so far...

Hello RC Sparks. Last week I got an Axial AX-10...

Hello RC Sparks. Last week I got an Axial AX-10 on a TCS-X-Trail chassis from craigslist for 200 bucks. It was probably the best 200 I've ever spent. So far all I've done was tune it, change the looks and add an XL-5 esc. Here's the stuff I have done.
-Tuned the suspension, the old set up was really bad and stiff. (swapped rear springs and trimmed front)
-Added the XL-5
-Sealed the tires with air
-Made front and rear bumpers
-Stripped and repainted the body
Anyway, here's a few pics.

This was the 2nd day I had it. You can see where the paint was already chipping.

Here it is a bit later when I made the front bumper. Most of the paint on the topside was chipped off by this point.

Here's a topside shot of the chassis as it sits this morning. The wheels are off because I have to reseal them. (I forgot the silicone on one of the lock rings) Also, before anyone asks, the little tube behind the ESC holds spare grub screws for the driveshafts and extra body pins. There's even a little allen wrench velcro'd on for the screws.

Lastly, here's the body. The paint wouldn't all come off, so I had nothing to lose painting it. It came out looking beat to crap which is what I wanted for it, and it was cheaper than buying a new body.

Next step is finishing the tires and then ordering a honcho body. My idea is to take off the rear cage and mount it to the chevy cab. As long as the person on ebay pays me today I should have it by next week. If anyone has questions just ask.
Thanks for looking, JW

It's not that i didn't like my creeper. In fact...

It's not that i didn't like my creeper. In fact my creeper could almost crawl over anything but thanks to rudeboyz, crawler ted and of course mepic himself. I decided to convert my venom creeper into a trail truck. here are a few of the before pics. Both axles are locked with parts from venom.
Just showing off the flex!

Knowing i wanted to convert this to a scale/trail rig. I cleaned the back axle up with HR aluminum axle ends and modified some axial AX10 shafts to fit inside.

Snow test just after the solid axle mod.

Here's the last pic of my creeper in creeper form. Was around Thanksgiving time 2012.

Another pic with the GF's Safari. This would be the last run for my creeper for awhile.

So with winter approaching here in upstate NY. I needed a project and still wanted to make a trail rig. I spent many of hour researching and then finally knowing where to start. I needed a frame. Not just a frame but an axial SCX10 honcho frame. Evil ebay had found me one! While looking for a frame. I knew what body i wanted well over a year ago . The Tamiya Hilux Bruiser Yota body. I'd be giving my creeper turtle its hard shell finally.

I bought a used SCX10 with a betty body, and Wheely King Axles several years ago off Ebay. I worked a a Chevy dealership as a parts man so I figured i needed to build a Chevy Truck. i purchased a Clodbuster body, but the wheel base was wrong. So i purchased a few more bodies and set out to alter he wheel base. this is how far i got before life got in the way and i stopped on the project. recently my son and I have gotten into working on them so i dug this truck out of storage and panted the Betty body. Here is the starting point.

Lately i have really wanted to try to do some...

Lately i have really wanted to try to do some aluminum body panels and needed and easy project to practice on.
Here is what i did on my snowy weekend in the shop.
First off i built a trailer frame.
Started with 5$ in 5/16 and 1/4 inch bar stock.

Using my wraith as a scale i cut the stock by eye until it was the right size. ( about 10" long or so)
I worked a a Chevy dealership as a parts man so I figured i needed to build a Chevy Truck. i purchased a Clodbuster body, but the wheel base was wrong. So i purchased a few more bodies and set out to alter he wheel base. this is how far i got before life got in the way and i stopped on the project. recently my son and I have gotten into working on them so i dug this truck out of storage and panted the Betty body.
Thought I would share with everyone a some what...

Thought I would share with everyone a some what step by step of a trailer build that I am working Please let me know what you think
I have started out with 1 8ft long piece of aluminum channel [IMG][/IMG]
Then marked and notched out a 90 degree notch at 21inches[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]
Then another notch at 12inches [IMG][/IMG]
Then another notch at 21inches again I did it this way for extra strength then bent them into a rectangle but on the 3rd notch it broke oh well lol[IMG][/IMG]
My question was, I know they come dry (no oil in them), I see they have seals on them so I wanting to see if anyone has filled them with oil? The reason I ask is because my 1:8 scale new bright jeep body is pretty heavy so itll gets bouncy and side to side roll and was wanting to take some of the bounce out of it?

What I have is a axial scx 10 dingo kit. The intended use of this rig is for power wheel speed playing in the mud but still be trail friendly. In the process of assembly I set the chassis up with front and rear 4 link. Using the honcho upper and lower rear links in the front allowed me to have the front 4 link set up and a 12.3 wheelbase. There is a few things i will be using like a Level 3 rc dual motor mount,Vanquish products aluminum transmission housing,Robinson racing transmission gears, Junfac hardened carbon steel universal shafts, Gmade g-transition shock black 90mm ,Integy alloy type VII 2.2 beadlock wheels wrapped in rc4wd mud slingers 2.2 tires. Now to feed the power to the ground. that will be done by 2 velineon 3500 vrushless motors and 2 vxl-3s Waterproof ecs's with 2 3s lipo batteries. To control this monster I will be using a spektrum dx3c,sr300 dsm 3-channel sport receiver.

Ordered my first rc kit project about a month ago...

Ordered my first rc kit project about a month ago and here is my progress so far.

Here is a shot of my Novak Rockstar 45t motor on my transmission (stock Wraith gears). I also moved the rx box to the front of the battery compartment in the rear of the truck.

These shots show my esc (Novak Eiger brushed/brushless) in the back of the battery tray with a castle creations 10amp bec crammed in beside it.

The cross member and a little velcro holds the rx box in place and a velcro strap keeps everything else from falling out.

I cut the front cross member to make it easier to remove the battery from the front of the truck. A strip of velcro, a strap and some hot glue made a nice battery holder and really helped the climbing performance of the machine with the weight up front.

Now I am not gonna go all out with Yellow Rims or nothing... but I am gonna try and re-create the Midnight Pumpkin on an SCX10..

The Body Chosen will be a 56 Ford with a Wheelbase of 11.2 inches.. ( As far as I can tell its as close as the Dingo's 11.3 I can find)
So a Little work is going to be needed to get it to look right..
(Thats if the website I got the body through doesn't tell me its on back order Or I might have to upgrade to a newer Ford like a Raptor)
I might Call it the Magnat pumpkin as I don't wanna get in trouble for blatant copy right lol...

So Stay tuned as I bring this puppy into Reality as my New project...

Converted my ax10 scorpion into a scaler with the TcS crawlers xtrail chassis and a proline Cherokee body that I painted cherry red with black rocker panels, fenders, bumpers and grill. First time painting an rc body and it looks pretty good except for some uneven lines where the good an bumper meet. It currently sits on the stock 2.2 rock lizards from axial but I will be getting some baja claws this summer.

But I'm a bit stuck....I have no idea how to mount the body! Ill put up pics when I'm home from class so you all can see but I can't decide if I should put the posts on the side like the ax10 or on the top like the scx10. Need opinions please! Which would be better for a scaler?
