Hey-O Sparker's... :evilish:

I have some news...I've decided to start a build ...Wait for it...1/8th Scale buggy!!! I've already bought a Brushless Motor for it 2 sundays ago...That marked the beginning of a new RC. So, Here's my plan for this buggy, I want to be able to Bash and Race it. And Also, I've been wanting to get a 8th Scale buggy since I started racing. :haveaniceday:

Alright, I shall start with this one picture.

This Motor I bought...One word...TEKIN! To be exact: A LIGHTLY USED, $75, TEKIN T8!!! It is going to paired up with a Tekin RX8 ESC. :omg: Oh man, oh man...This is gunna be MEPIC!

I'm wanting to get a Losi 8ight-e or a Team associated RC8.2e...Oh, or a Duratrax DXR8-e. Ok, WHEN THE HECK IS PAYDAY!!!??? :bouaaaaah: :omg:

Sorry about the dirty hands. To much RC action that day. :secret laugh:

I will keep you guys updated on this build.

I need Advice

Currently I am debating on whether it is better...

Currently I am debating on whether it is better to wait for back ordered parts or just bite the bullet and buy a new RC. I want to keep my old one running seeings I did a lot of work converting it from nitro to electric, but it is so old that finding parts or trying to fab parts is getting kind of tiresome. So here is my question, if I was to purchase a new RC, what should I look at, I am a fan of 2wd but open to 4wd, I am more of a off road basher. There are some RC's that have caught my attention but I didn't want to jump and buy the first thing I liked. I am doing my research and trying to figure out which one is the best fit. Personally I love my old school stadium truck, before they moved the tires under the body. Ok so I guess it is to the list of must haves...

Must be off road
if it is RTR must be LiPo ready
Also must be Electric
and that's about it.

Thanks for and advice you give. Cheers - Jon

Ok so I am building a custom emaxx and I need a chassis.

So far it is down to FLM or Xtreme Maxx

Does anyone have experience or advice on these? I would really like to find a blue chassis but as of yet have not found one. Any ideas?

Also I have a set of Jumbo Kong tires for a crawler I built and I need some rims with a 23mm hex for them. Again any ideas or advise on that? I am fine custom ordering if I can but can not find a builder for custom rims.

I have also considered a new Traxxas plastic chassis and using RYT, or RIT however it is spelled, dye to color it the same as my RPM blue parts. Advice on that?

Here is a photo or two of the prgress so far for an idea of what I am working on.

Go this new 6x6 from a buddy came with no electronics, other than a steering servo. (Hitec 645mg)
I added the battery tray and cab hold downs, servo/servo mount for the selectable 4x6-6x6 disconnect, I also just added a junfac steel drive shaft to the truck as well.
Battery tray hidden under the cab as far forward as it can go. I figured I should try an keep the weight up front, I'm going to need it for what I've got planned for the back of this beast....

Hey everyone..here's my Vaterra Twin Hammers. I...

Hey everyone..here's my Vaterra Twin Hammers. I used it stock out of the box for a few months and enjoyed running it in the snow and on the ice. As spring attempted to come I decided to paint the body.

In a moment of madness I decided that the stock electronics had to go and I needed to make it a little faster and flashier. Here's what I purchased..

Onyx 3650kv 4 pole brushless waterproof combo

Savox 1256tg steering servo

Blue Monkey steering brace and rear links

Junfac xd piggy-back shocks 103mm

Gear head Sixer 1.9 wheels

RC4WD rock stompers

Here she is as she sits right now

Now with all the upgrades she really flies and is so much fun to bash. It keeps up with my buddies Slash..almost.

I decided it's time to match the body with the performance and now I'm
just waiting on some aluminum body panels to paint up and make her purty..:)

Thanx for checking out my rig..I will update when those precious parts come in.

I have had my pede for a little under a year now. And I've been up and down about it for a while. I have loved it when it's running right! But also dated it when I didn't have a motor and didn't have the extra money to buy one.. And how's sorta kinda one of thoes hating it moments. I do not currently have a motor in it. I burnt ANITHER brushed motor. I think I'm past like 8 or 9.. Now I'm starting about going Brushless! But... I don't quite have the cash to get a system yet. I haven't seen to many bad things said about the TRX Velinion system. But I don't wanna just have one option. I know MEDiC is a Tekin guy. But I don't know anything about Tekin. I want to get a motor that has quite a bit of torque but it also has the ability to do 40 or 50mph. What kinda motor + esc setup should I look at? Also, I'm young..er, 17, who currently doesn't have a week to week income. So I have to keep the price a little lower. I'd love to have it under $100, but could possibly go as far a $200. But that would be stretching it! Thanks in advance for the tips! Ps.. It's an xl 5 stampede.

Hey guys I am wondering if anyone has put their winch in front of the bumper. Or at least further up than the three racing instructions show because putting it there interferes with the suspension travel by causing the steering servo hitting the bottom of the winch plate. I lose almost 3/4 of an inch because of this. I have looked and looked and no luck finding a picture or video with this sort of setup.

MONSTER TRUCKS Big Cat: Powering Up my Savage Flux

This build continues the previous build found...

This build continues the previous build found here: http://www.rcsparks.com/forum/off-ro...ck-cat-ii.html

Well, I've wrapped up most of the assembly on the new 1717 for my Flux, and while I don't have a whole tutorial, I guess I should throw out a few pics, and a parts list.

upgrades:
Castle/Traxxas XO-1 1717 motor
Castle Creations XL2 ESC
ALZA motor/center diff mount
Platinum RC Flux XL skidplate
Ofna Hyper 9 50T spur
Novak 13T pinion

So first off, I have to say that the ALZA motor/cd mount is BEEFY. I'm more worried about snapping the motor screws than breaking the mount. It's also beautiful; the machining is flawless and the design is visually striking on top of being tough and light-weight. I can't wait to beat the ever-loving @&#% out of it. I wouldn't mind being able to mount the motor with FOUR screws, though. (Dejan, hint, hint) It will also NOT fit the diff from teh Super 5SC Flux, because it's so thick. That's down to the way the gear mounts on separate diff-cap.

I added the PRC skidplate to make up for the cross-bracing lost by removing the motor plate. I mounted the ESC by running SavageX engine plate crossmembers over top of the diff mount, between the screw locations for the stock radio box just ahead of the trans, and the gear cover just behind. A piece of my old lexan skidplate was recycled as an ESC plate.

I did have to do a little massaging on the motor: the outdrive cups were touching the motor and preventing a good mesh, so I ground out a tiny section of the fins to provide clearance.

I'll post pics of the body and such tomorrow.

Well here is another build inspired by an RCSparks mod- Dribble

(wish inspiration would make me as good at taking pics as Dribble!)

I really loved the look of the HPI mini Trophy so I thought I would pick one up too.

<a href="http://www.rcsparks.com/forum/attachments/off-road-build-projects/4639d1368743489-cranks-hpi-mini-trophy-hpi-trophy-truck-012.jpg" title="Name: hpi trophy truck 012.jpg

Well it came with this set-up
A 15t brushed motor which would probably would have been quick if I would of tried it.

<a href="http://www.rcsparks.com/forum/attachments/off-road-build-projects/4641d1368743565-cranks-hpi-mini-trophy-hpi-trophy-truck-015.jpg" title="Name: hpi trophy truck 015.jpg
But I thought this would be more fun and I wasn't using it so.....
hpi trophy truck 017.jpg

It was a tough fit the ESC is mounted on top of the battery hold down.

hpi trophy truck 020.jpg

The driveshafts are positioned a little weird so I had to be really careful with routing wires.
I'm also expecting a terrible time with battery changes, but I can live with that.

Hello everyone. So i have had these 2 polaris...

Hello everyone. So i have had these 2 polaris rush toy grade snowmobiles for around 2 years now and decided i should finally do something with them. I'm not sure if this is the right section of the forums but i guess it will have to do because there is no snowmoblie part. Okay, so far i have taken out the motor, steering......thing, and have "temporarily" installed a drill motor from a 9.6V drill. The problems i have so far are that: since this is toy grade the steering and throtle are full speed/turn one way or not at all, so i will need a reciever/controller and an esc. The problem with this is, i dont have much $. If anyone have cheap esc ideas post them up. This is my first build project so i am just getting into making my on things.
Here are some pictures.
This is the parts sled.

Here is the old motor compared to the new one. HUGE SIZE DIFFERENCE!!

Next we have the Snowmobile beside my mini summit vxl.

This is the steering mechanism i was talking about. Not like a normal servo

This is my wonderful motor mounting job!! :)

When i went out to test the snowmobile everything worked exept the motor was extremly under powered. Even the old motor was better. I am not sure if it was the circuit board that wasn't giving the motor enough power so i will see once i get an esc. I also have to switch out the shocks becasue they are definitly just for looks, they are the stiffest shocks i have ever felt on an Rc!!
Oh and sorry about the picture blurryness, my camera isn't the greatest and I am a little shaky too. Ill keep you updated.

Well after a lot of thought, figure crunching, thread reading, video watching, and "discussions" with my girl, I figured out what to get as a returning to the hobby rig. As you have already guessed from the thread title, I ordered a Vaterra Twin Hammers. Got some goodies for it as well.

1.	17 turn rebuildable brushed motor.
2.	HR 12mm aluminum hubs.
3.	HR aluminum rear lower links.
4.	Carbon fiber body panels.
5.	500k TRAXXAS diff oil.
6.	2 Venom 2s 2000MaH 20c LiPos
7. Cheap metal gear servo from my lhs. Hoping it is faster with more torque than the stock steering servo that I couldn't find stats on.
8. An aluminum front bumper/skid plate. (I know, "aluminum will bend." I would rather bend a cheap bumper, as opposed to breaking the front end off.)
9.	And tools to work on it with.

Started with the tear down. No pics of the process because we have all seen it before.

Here is the motor installed.

i do want to get it back up and runing, but it needs

Last weekend I had my nitro mt2 out for some...

Last weekend I had my nitro mt2 out for some bashing. It was the least fun I've ever had with it in years. I must have spent what seemed to be 10 min trying to start it. It ran like crap and burned though nitro like it was free. I'm vary comfortable with my 2 nitro trucks, but I just about kicked this in the lake.

Soo...... Ladies and gentleman welcome to project NO MORE NITRO.

I love the truck. It's a great brasher but its time for a change.

I started by removing all nitro related parts.

Sorry for the bad pics I will get some better ones next time.

I have some parts on order. Im and should show up next week.

Hope you enjoy. I'll post all the progress

thx to a member informing me I posted the last thread in the wrong place, maybe I'll get some replies here, I've bought a king hauler kit and have it built minus electronics, my plan is to make the frame fully articulating just behind the cab, and then on the rear of the truck I'm gonna build a fully articulating heavy hauler tow rig, the boom is going to turn a full 360, as well as raise and lower and extend and retract and have a functioning winch, I know i need 4 ch to run the truck alone but wondering how many ch I'll need to run the boom, from what I can figure I'll need another 4 ch to run the boom, any info on how to figure out how many channels i need or what can be run on a channel will help me huge in figuring out the size of controller I'll need to purchase, any info is much appreciated, :)

Well i ordered another £80 worth of parts and hop...

Well i ordered another £80 worth of parts and hop ups for it yesterday. After hunting around for some replacement ball race cups for the front end i could only find some at a ludicrous price. The guy was actually advertising them for £19.99 with a photo showing he paid £1.99 for them now i understand inflation and supply and demand but i wasn't paying that much for a couple of bits of plastic.
So it inspired me to think of a solution to my problem and came up with a lock wire brace for the steering arms to stop them from popping apart.
Here is a short video showing what i did and the car working well.

I've had my Exo for about half a year and it's...

I've had my Exo for about half a year and it's great fun. However I use it only for bashing and even with 4WD it can get caught up with the open diffs and small tires. I had a set of Proline split six beadlocks lying around that I've wanted to use for something. I had a dumb idea the other day to get a bigger tire for them and throw them on the Exo. SC tires kind of max out at 4.3" so I figured I would experiment with some 2.2's. With that large of a tire, I wanted to create a bashing truck out of the Exo. Like most people who have them, I hate the battery change out time, so I plan to make it easier with this project by removing some interfering cage and lexan. This should be a quicker build than my normal ones since the base is already there. I stole my Raptor body from my monster truck project and viola'

Project Exo-Raptor!

It started life as a mild mannered Exo

Now I will be able to really have a rig that fits the functionality of a real Raptor. Fast and insane offroad.

Specs on the Exo and what I plan to add as they break:
Castle Sidewinder SCT 3800kv
Axial radio and servo
Axial Aluminum shock housings and stiffer springs
Aluminum knuckles
CVD's front and rear
Custom made Cage to support the body when rolling over or landing on the roof (I have another Exo kit that I used for the front diff and some other parts with an unused cage)
Proline Split six beadlocks - Plan to repaint the beadlock rings with a color to match the body
Axial Ripsaw 2.2 R35 tires.
Jconcepts Slash Raptor body (When I've seen this on SC trucks there is always a gap between the body and the frame. I plan to repaint the exo side body panels black to kind of cover this gap

I few more details on those wheels and tires:
I wanted to have a SC wheel to make the tire a little stiffer and be lighter than Aluminum. (my plastic axial beadlocks don't clear the knuckles on an Exo). Here is what I started with.

I didn't mod the tire at all, just put a foam in the tire, shove the inner portion of the bead lock into the tire (this takes some doing, but not horrible), set the inner bead

At this point the outer bead is almost perfectly in place. Put on the bead lock ring and tighten screws.

Tires are basically done, now I need to tear the body panels off and figure out how to mod the cage for a truck body.

Stay tuned...

Hey guys, I have a 2wd slash and have been slowly adding parts and will continue to do so. I bought a jconcepts raptor high flow body so for now its painting masking etc. I'm going with black and cobalt blue with either large drips or ghost flames ill post pics when done, i also am making custom body pin retainers like you would see on a full sized muscle car with aircraft wire. Should be pretty cool.

It was a long week for me but the EXO finally...

It was a long week for me but the EXO finally arrived early Friday afternoon with enough time to drive it for a bit before dark. My first impression was just like everyone elses I guess. This rig looks amazing. the details are great and it just looks plain mean. Pictures do not do it justice I can say that much.

On to my second impression.
Ran it on a Venom 2S 40c 5000mah lipo, stock gearing and I found it slow and the steering I felt was kinda sloppy. I did some research before I ordered it and ordered some slash turnbuckles at the same time. I put those in on Friday night after driving it and that cleaned up some slop but I wasn't able to use all the steel hollow balls it came with. Some were just too big so the plastic ones took their place for now until I find out what size they need to be and order some more.

One thing that really surprised me was finding a deans connector already on there. I expected to do some soldering before I could take it out. I guess Axial finally listened to their customers complaining about the crappy Tamiya plugs.

All in all I can live with the things most people say are the down falls of this rig. Like the 12 screws to take off the cage or the tight battery compartment. I guess reading about it and watching videos before I made the purchase prepared me for it so it's no biggy.

I'm looking into the rear sway bar kit and getting rid of all the plastic hollow balls. If anyone wants to chime in on other things to tighten this thing up please feel free. I've read the losi ten scte shocks are real good. I'm thinking about trying those out unless I find out otherwise.

I already know the electronics have to go if I'm going to really enjoy this thing so I'm looking at a Savox SG1230 servo and aluminum servo horn for it. I'm assuming a BEC is a must at that point.

Now motor and ESC is something I'm still doing homework on. I don't want to blow out the diffs but be pretty quick. I know this thing can be made to be bullet proof from what I've read so again all ideas will be considered while I continue to do home work. I may even pick up the kit version so I can start from scratch. I just really wanted something I could drive whenever so I bought the RTR.

I was really impressed with some youtube videos I found while I was researching and I really like this rig. The username was 450hp202turbo

Thanks for reading guys. Be sure to throw up any ideas for me. I'll keep searching around this forum and a few other places for ideas as well.

Hi, Guys!

Time to make some buggy! :ninja:
...

Hi, Guys!

Time to make some buggy! :ninja:

A month back, my vorza died on stadium track:

I fixed it, but its like with 1:1 car, when you crashed it once, it will never be same like before, LOL, but I left it for heavy bushings, now readjusting the suspension and so on.

Anyway, back to topic, so, I spent hours of looking for some nice electro buggy and I wanted to get pro kit aaaand assortment isnt that big:

1. EB48
2. Xray
3. Serpent
4. Mugen
5. Losi

Last three I skipped from the begining coz threads already exist.
EB48 made by howse is super cool.

SO, i had no choice but to take xray. aaaand again problem, XRay is quite rear, I think because it is European Brand and maybe they have limited production, I dont know, but anyway Xray Team Buggies are in good demand and considered as very well made and designed and styled by HUDY, who makes professional rc acc.

Since nitro is not for me the only choice was xb808e.

Nice kit, everything packed well and I really can feel some european spirit in this kit :)
Enough talks i guess, some pics below.

Firstly let me say thank you for all the great advice and help
My SC18 is going to be for carpet racing so im not going to worry about short course wheels and tires
Im thinking about getting these wheels
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Associated-R...item3cd0940ff4
i have a few questions lol (no surprises there lol)
firstly, stupid question i know but will these fit straight on my truck or will i need a hex conversion kit for them?
secondly, i want some really cool tires for these
Iv got 2 sets of RC18R tires already so, this time i want something different
i want on road or maybe rally but cant find any sites that have 1/18 tires
can someone shot a link to a great set of tires for these rims?
and again
cheers for all the advice guys

I got into RC back in the early 90's because of...

I got into RC back in the early 90's because of monster trucks. My first kit was a Kyosho Big Brute and it really got me hooked into the Hobby. When winter set in this year, I took my project Wringo (wraith axle scx10) and put some monster truck tires on it for driving in the snow.

After driving this in the snow, I knew I had to have a monster truck again. I looked at the traditional bashers: HPI Savage, Emaxx, Erevo, and the other Chinese brands. I just can't get around an Independent suspended monster truck. No REAL monster truck has IFS/IRS. I like to have some scale looks and performance that I can still bash. Yes I may break more stuff, but hell, what fun is it if you don't break something. I have some wraith axles and a great 4WS setup leftover from my Wringo rebuild so I figured it was time to build a custom tube frame and really kick this thing off.

Of course I had to pickup some more parts to make this thing a little more robust and have some "Go Fast" capability.

Parts List (Assuming I can remember everything):
Electronics-

Castle Creations Sidewinder 3800kv system (not pictured), I also have a 4600kv Castle motor that is available in case I need to go faster.

Various Gens Ace and Skylipo batteries in 2S and 3S

Flysky 3 channel radio

Towardpro 200 oz/in servos with Kimbrough servo savers

Heyok 4WS controller for 2 pos 3rd Channel

Castle Creations 10Amp BEC

Transmission-

Hot Racing Al Axial tranny case

Hot Racing Hardened axial tranny gears

Supershafty tranny top shaft

Supershafty HD motor plate with built in dust cover mount

Crawler Innovations hardened extended transmission output

Robinson Racing 32P 56T Slipper/spur for Slash

Emaxx plastic driveshafts (these are really heavy duty and cost effective for driveshafts, especially something that needs to go fast)

Axles-

Axial plastic Wraith housings front and back

Axial universal joint shafts front and back

Axial 43/13 HD gears front and back

Topcad/Integy Chubs and Knuckles

STRC HD diff covers

STRC steering linkage

STRC lower link/shock mounts

Vanquish bearing caps

Vanquish upper link mounts

Hot Racing locker rear

Axial open diff gears in front (taken from my Exo kit) filled with 10000wt oil - I have another HR locker in case this doesn't work

Frame-

CKRC AX10 Delrin skid (the starting point for the whole rig)

3/16 and 1/4" brake line brazed into a frame based off of the BIGFOOT #18 tube frame design

Suspension-

Traxxas Revo rod ends with custom ready rod/brake line links

Shocks - Unknown at the moment

Custom made Al anti-sway bars

Wheels/tires-

90's vintage Kyosho USA-1 tires and chrome wheels

Vanquish 0.850 SLW extenders to mount the wheels to the 12mm Axial hex

Body-
Jconcepts Ford Raptor for Slash (I used this on my Wringo project for a little while and it never really fit what I was going for It will be a perfect Monster Truck body).

Raptor body just sitting on the wheels/tires. Will not look like this in finished form, just trying to get all the parts in the picture.

All in all this thing will be in the 12-13" wheelbase range. I haven't decided on shocks yet because I don't know how much range of motion I will need. Most likely will start with stock Wraith shocks for fitup, but considering Tmaxx or HPI Savage XL for the travel.

My original thought was for this to be somewhat of a budget build cuz I already had the tires/wheels, stock transmission, axles, and motor/esc; but that idea has kind of been blown. We'll see how she holds up to brushless power on 3S

Stay Tuned!!

Well, I have been making some upgrades to my brat, so I figured I would post it up. The car was built by my dad back in the 80's and was mostly original until last month. I started with the basic system and broke somethings bashing. I have resoldered (and now ditched) the mechanical ESC, redid some wiring, added a new button and I added a new AA holder.

Here it was when I started the work on it. Soon after this I soaked the receiver and then both servos. I also broke a tranny gear.

Then I got the body. It's a little smaller than 1/10, but I made accessories around the 1/10th scale so they look a tad large.

Next I added some LED strips to the body.

The switch is in the bed of the body.

Just this weekend my friend traded me a Traxxas XL-5 for some old bike parts.
I also ordered a FlySky FS-gt3c and new gear for the tranny. I was going to purchase the newer style tranny, but I luckily found the gear needed. I am leaving the servo used for the MSC in there and converting it into a servo winch.

These old school Tamiya kits really make you remember that this hobby is about 1 thing... Having fun!

I decided to build a Lunchbox because it was the kit that always caught my eye, but I never had one so...

After a lot of thought I went with the Black edition.
