    Hey Guys,

I notice the quad rotor forum is a little sparse. The wife and I just got a Blade mQX and a good friend of ours has the AR Drone 2.0. My wife had never really tried ANY R/C in the past, she had zero interest in my trucks. I made the mistake of telling her that she 'wouldn't be able to fly the mQX'... long story short, now it is HER Blade mQX!!!

Enjoy these two videos, if you get a chance:

I picked up the MQX a couple months ago as my first RC flyer. I love the thing. Cant wait till the snow melts off and I can get it outdoors. I figured I would learn to fly that before purchasing the much more expensive AR drone. I learned that to fly the AR with a typical transmitter you have to do some fancy programming and re-working. I decided to wait until they come out with a newer, more versatile edition. I def love the quadcopter. So much fun

Yeah! The wife and I love our mQX. The AR is my friend's. I like it a lot too, but more for it's out of the box filming abilities. I think for straight up flying, I would get to annoyed with the touch screen control interface. That said, I really hope my buddy will fly over and chase my REVO one of these days... could be a great video!

Oh and btw, be sure to check out the other posts in this section about the Eye One, and the upcoming Eye One Brushless... they might be worth considering (more so the brushless one, since we both already have the mQX). Cheers!

Hello I am new to the forum. But I currently want to buy a Quad Copter and have it narrowed down to 2, the Ar Drone 2.0 and Blade MQX. Since you have flown both Gigga what one would you recommend. which one is built better? Which of the 2 quad copters is it easier to get parts for?

I have both a smart phone and a Ipad to run the AR Drone and also own a Spectrum DX7 to power the MQX, so this is not an issue with either Quadcopter I deceide to purchase. Looking forward to hearing your opinion.

Oh hey Trickle®, I just noticed your question now. In terms of these two quads, really to be frank I have to say that I much prefer the mQX.

However, I love having the AR Drone around. I really want my buddy to order the parts he needs to get it back in the air so he can do some aerial videography for me. The advantage to the AR is the cool integrated camera and the FPV stuff.

The advantage of the mQX is that you will have serious, direct precision control. Especially with the DX7. My wife and I just got a DX6i and it makes the mQX even simpler to fly. We are both now way bolder and crashing way more, because the new radio makes us feel pro :P

Also, parts seem to be more widely available for Blade products. Build quality seems comparable on both. My beef with the mQX so far is that the motors are tiny brushed ones that burn out prematurely sometimes. Brushless mQX 2 would be amazing if they did one.

In the end, it is personal preference my friend. If you have any questions to help make your decision, I would be glad to help.

Thanks Gigga.... Based on your recomendation and the price of the MQX is 1/2 the price of the AR Drone I think I am going to get the mQX. Can you flip and roll the mQX?

Right now I can only do flips and rolls outside with lots of altitude. But with my new radio and some practice I hope to eventually be able to do them inside.

One last thing before you get the mQX... if you are mostly going to fly indoors consider the sq1 from heli-max. It seems awesome (tried one out at my local hobby shop) and is substantially smaller (although with your spectrum radio, the blade mQX is probably more attractive... the sq1 wouldn't bind to that).

I also wish the mQX was brushless as I am not a huge fan of brushed motors as they can burn up fairly fast.
