    Night flyers??

Has anyone here tried night flying? I converted one of my easy stars to a night flyer recently and was amazed at how much fun it was!! It was a completely new way to fly and worth every penny for the lights. Here's a pic of my rig. I learned right away to have lights on the trailing edge of the wings aswell as the leading edge, but all in all the plane was great!

Actually I had a parkzone Radian that I loaded with LED's and it was amazing. I enjoyed flying with it but the Blue LED's are just too bright and the mess with you night vision when they get close. But I could take it up around 800-900' and kill the motor and it looked just like a UFO floating in one spot.

Me and my Boss at the LHS are going to build some slow sticks with some lights on them.

If at first you don't succeeded a bigger hammer is what you need!

Awesome im glad theres some others here with an interest in this. Im a big fan of the electrofly "Flylites". There plug-n-play plenty bright enough and come in tones of colors. I learned early having many different colors is the best option. Prevents disorientation. I imagine LED's would be super bright. One guy tried putting led's under the wing pointing into the fuse, but it ended up being one big bright ball in the sky.. He barely landed it! almost a disaster..

Now that I've got this setup (and it's getting dark before midnight) gotta go try this out sometime...

Also have some nav lights on my micro P-51 now...have to take that out for a test run too...

You know, I have never thought about it. Flying at night. I have a few planes including a Parkzone T28, Micro P-51, and most recently the Night Vapor. Funny enough the Night Vapor is designed for just that, night flying. I should venture over to the park one night when the wind is low and give it a go. BTW, very cool, I love the EL wire.

Haha! My local flying club had a night fly event a few weeks back. All of the guys who didn't already have lights on their planes put thin glow sticks all over them lol It worked ok, but not nearly as nice as the LEDs. The president of the club put glow sticks on his plane but forgot the trailing edges, and his plane virtually disappeared when it was going away from him lol He ended up getting it back on the ground without damage though. It was a great even, and another one is already planned. One good idea is to line the runway with glow sticks. Makes it much easier to land.

Here is a little video I shot of the event, I hope yall enjoy!

A man hasn't any idea what his soul looks like until he gazes into the eyes of the woman that he's married to. And then, if he's any kind of decent human being, he spends the next couple of days throwing up. Because no honest man can stand that image.
