Which chassis to build a scale Defender, High Lift, CC01 or SCX10?

    Hey guys,

I have the following that i just bought off ebay.

    1. Defender hard body
    2. 3Racing winch
    3. Tamiya light unit
    4. Some scale accessories

I have the CC01, the Tamiya High Lift and a SCX10. I want to build a proper scale Defender and I want to know which is the best to build a scale and a 'capable' crawler. I know the CC01 will give me the best scale but can i modify it and make it better for crawling?

I'm planning on using a RC4WD Outcry ESC and a RC4WD 35T motor with stock gearing on whichever chassis I build. I also have a Spektrum DX3E and a FlySky 3-channel radio on the way and I want to stick to one of these.

My objective is to build an affordable scaler with what i have and i need advise on which chassis to go for and if someone has attempted to install the Defender body on any of these models.

    cheers.

i'm an absolute die hard Landy nut!!!
this sounds awesome. *i'd* roll with the scx-10 chassis, just seems the better chassis, easy to manipulate, build off and so on. BUT never worked/owned CC01 or the Tamiya High Lift

I wouldn't go with the highlift if you are going for the scale look. It would be between the scx10 and cc01, I find that the cc01 looks more like a real truck... but the scx10 looks good enough, and I think the scx10 is more capable on the trail.

Well I thought about it a lot yesterday and did some research. The CC01 is not good on the trails because of its suspension and drivetrain limitations. With the SCX10, I'm planning to build it into a very good crawler out of it with lot of upgrades. Hence, I will build a scale Defender D90 on my High Lift chassis. I have seen a few D90 bodies on the High Lift and if built correctly, the body can be placed lower and it looks bloody fantastic. Cant wait for the postman to get all my parts now.

For a more Scale look and driving experience I would go with the Hilift chassis myself. The SCX-10 has its benefits over the Hilift and CC-01.. but for the true to scale look.. the Hilift and RC4WD Trailfinders are hard to beat. Good luck on your Defender project... looking forward to seeing this one.

I have decided to stick with the high lift. Spent the whole day ordering parts from eBay. Ran out of money to get the roof rack and the external roll cage from RC4WD. Will have to buy flowers for the girlfriend now. :-p
