Probably because you can pick you steering servo. And motor esc combo.

well, yes. you get to pick your own electronics. But also, it has aluminum links which are stronger. I'd say go with the kit if you think you will be able to build it and have the money to spend

yea but if i get the kit im geting the same esc and still getting the traxxas 2075 waterproof servo either way and the links is my only worry , wouldnt i be able to just buy some aluminum ones and just replace the plastic ones? plus its alot more money for the kit

Cost is always a big determining factor in kit vs. RTR. I personally love building kits, there's just something about it, but as you've noticed it is more expensive. I'm not fully up to speed with the SCX10, but with a kit would you not also require a radio? That's another good chunk of coin to be dishing out which wouldn't be needed with the RTR. I "think" I read when looking at these trucks that the kit has a slightly longer chassis? not sure if I just made that up in my head or not though lol.

If I was you, go for the RTR. You'll be ready to roll right outta the box and the upgrades can come along as things break and require to be replaced.

I bought the rtr honcho simply because I don't have time to build a kit between work a two kids! The electronics in the rtr are not a crappy as some people say they are! The esc has lipo cutoff and a drag brake, the servo is a metal gear servo (unlike the 2075)! It comes with a 2.4 ghz radio! Just buy the metal link kit and swap the links!

When I brake something then I will upgrade to higher end electronics!
    Happy trails
