hi im wondering what you guys or girls think about air filled tires for trailing and crawling. I have 2.2's on my scx10 honcho but water got inside so there lumpy and bumby I know I have to pull the tires of the wheels and re glue them but would it be better to take the foam out or put it back in. djmedic has air filled tries on his beast but he has that for crawling I think so If you can help that would be great. Im still a rockie so try touse terms i might understand.
    thanks :meaw:

Most wheels have a vent hole on the inside of the rim, if you want to keep the water out and the air in, add a little silicon over that vent after you get everything dried out and assembled. Oh and I would leave the foam in.

I run foamless on alot of my builds, seems to work good for getting traction when you need it, but all of my rims are sealed so the air stays in lol Id use the foam if you have that vent hole that Crankbait was talking about
    :)

I would like to take off the ripsaws on my TR honcho to make them air filled...but is there any way to dissolve the tire glue so I can use the same WE wheels, and ripsaws, but use them as air filled?

put them in the freezer for a few hours, the pull them out and quickly plug the holes, then when they warm up the will have a little pressure in them.

Any strong glue that wont damage the rubber, Super glue would work fine. I myself swear on a stuff called Rapid-fix. Its expensive but there is very little I can't glue back together with it. Including recently a thermostat housing!

I use beadlock style with air filled tires g made bighorn (even pump supplied with it). no probs with water leakage. maybe you should try beadlock?

I dont know which wheels you are using, but

beadlock wheels are with screws and looks like this
    TorqueWheelWeb1.jpg
since tires are attached with screws to rims, it means you can take it off without any harm to rims and tires and use rims with other tires for example

and non beadlock wheels when tires are simply glued to rims.

I tried taking the spare tire off the back of the Honcho, and left it in the freezer for a while...almost a day actually cuz I had work...I took it out of freezer, cleaned off area around the vent holes with some alchohol pad, and then used a q-tip to dab some shoo-goo to cover the vents...I let that set over night...but I can confirm unfortunatly that my attempt with this method FAILED.

I think next I will try using sandpaper to roughen the surface around the vent hole so the shoo goo has more to cure to.

Thanks you guys, I am finding this experiment thread most inspirational!
