Last night I ordered a scx10 and thought to myself, "What If it Had tank tracks :O". The only problem in that idea is I don't Have the sufficient Funds to finish a project of that scale and I plan to Do a F650 crawler with it. Somone out there in the World Of RC sparks should Put Tank tracks on a SCX10.

it is easier to replace each wheel with an individual track for each wheel they are ready made and you can just purchase the correct ones install them and go but I have not seen any tracks kits to bolt on,,, only custom made sets.
predator tracks or the integy tracks are easier.
I have a max stone 10 with the cheapest integy tracks.

The tank track system would be very difficult if its not the four individual tracks. The steerimg system wont work

to make tank tracks work ....
I think that it could be done if each track can be powered and
be able to have forward and reverse for each side track ...
then it would work just like a real tank...:)

Unfortunately I don't see this idea working with scx10 axles for a number of reasons. You would have to remove the solid axle to allow independent drive to each side.

The only solution would be to take the SCX10 frame (therefore still an scx10!!) and solid mount independent gearbox and track drive assemblies to each side.

And as I type this the other thing which still would require custom work would be to make a half track 6x6. So you could have your tracked rear and steering front. This removes the issue of independent drive for each side.

I thought about something like this, I thought that if you could take a pair of moa axles, and remove the drive from one side on each, making sure they were opposite sides, just pull the axle shaft, so it would free wheel on that side, then using a twin stick 4 or 6 ch controller plug 2 escs into it so each stick controlled one motor. when you push both forward both tracks would move forward, the same with reverse, but because each side has 1 free wheeling hub when you pushed the left side forward you would turn right, and the same for the right side, a crude form of skid steer, but very similar to what old WWII tanks used.

now that I think a little more, medic used a robotics esc that allowed him to run his pistol grip transmitter on his blizzard, that would probably be an even better choice than dual escs and a twin stick as you could use any tx/rx combo you wanted.
