    2.2's on trail trucks??

Hey everyone, just wondering what the people around here think about 2.2 wheels and tires on trail trucks both performance and looks, i think it performs better for crawling and the ground clearance is better for mudding and might have to sacrifice a little flex.. but there's something in the back of my mind telling me that something's off.. here's a pic of my dingo body without fender flares and 2.2 wraith ripsaw tires

    what d'you guys think?

Once I went to 2.2's I never looked back! For scale realism, yeah the 1.9's or 1.5's look more realistic, but for fun and performance I totally dig the 2.2's. It's your rig man, run it how you like it! That's a beefy looking Dingo you got there man!

I am rolling 2.2 Rock Crushers. Not the scale look for a street/trail rig, but awesome for the look of a trail beast!

Throw the fender flares back on and stick with the 2.2's. Looks sweet to me

I run 2.2's on every rig i build anymore... for me its a preference and enjoyment.. my best friend runs 1.9's and thats his preference ... he prefers the scale look.. i prefer a BUILT to the hilt monster scaler look myself... to each his own... this hobby is about YOUR enjoyment and fun... if you like it... thats all that matters.. The Dingo looks pretty BEAST to me with those 2.2's on it...

I swap between my 1.9's and my 2.2's all the time! I have a couple different bodies I use and some i don't want to carve up to fit my 2.2.

It's still up to you in the end!!

    Happy Rc'ing

i love them both, i have different bodies for different tires.

i have, if my memory is correct, bodies for the HPI savage, sp seemingly smaller then 1/10th scale.

for those i use my 1.9 rock creepers. they are very small for 1.9s and give a good image.

and then i also have 2.2 comp crawler HPI Rock Grabbers. whic hare massive and make big obstacles small.

Here is a good size comparison

    from LEft to Right

1.9 Rock Creepers, 1.9 stock Ripsaws, 2.2 HPI rock Grabbers

My 2.2 rig is a 1992 cherokee thats been hacked.

I think that if you get a lage body for your truck, 2.2s are insane. I have a pro-line bronco body, and it looks sorta 1/8th scalish to me, so 2.2s may be the way to go with that.

I prefer the 1.9's.. I mean it looks odd seeing a shell hacked up just to accomodate tyres..
2.2's make trails too easy.... I like a challenge and semi-realistic features on a trail rig..

The stock 1.9 Prolines have handled everything I have thrown at them from Rocks to Sand...

I have made the switch to 2.2's and they fit under both the Honcho and Proline Wrangler (#3322-00) bodies. Yes I have added about an inch as a body lift, better to lift the body than lift the chassis (and all the weight), and had to trim the corners off the Dingo bumper but they work just great

Seems everything said here comes down to personal choice. Yes with a 2.2 ya will most likey be able to get over stuff some 1.9's cant

For me I like the challenge of a 1.9 on my scale rigs. They look real and fit under the body right.

Now I have some 2.2 rc4wd mudslingers on one my scx10's and I think it looks bad ass and performs well. Basically its your rig run what ya want. I often switch tires around to see how much it changes the looks and or performance of my rigs.

Sometimes its like running a whole new rig just by switching tires or adding wieght

To me that jeep dont look right with then big ole tires..... Bit to much ....I think a 35-38 is perfect for them. Thats what I run..... the jeep to the left looks right, if the one with the 40 ish size tires flexes the body will rub......

Kindo looks like clod tires on a scx10....

I've been meaning to ask this question ever since I got my Ripsaws, would my truck qualify as a trail truck? I've never run it competitively yet but I would like to in the near future

Would need to compare it to the rules posted @ SORRA.com

At a quick glance you might have more than half the tire out from under the body, with a little more modding you could make that rule.

Well thats whats so great about owning a rig ya can build it how ya want. Ya said that rig ran moab thats cool, been there done that as well. Have ya seen that rig run?
I personally like a smaller tire on a trail rig.....53 are huge, to easy I like a challenge, Im sure this is a fun rig, hell any day on the trail is better then no day on the trails.

I miss my old rig, I sold this a bit ago and regret it everyday, now the fella I sold it to is selling it...

Yeah I love being able to have my dream set up on a truck, even if it is a smaller scale. My 1:1 has been punished enough and is now due for a tranny rebuild. To me my rc's are all about doing the things I cant afford to on my real truck :P

    My 1:1

Use to own a 86 ext cab 4x4 with a 351 winsor. Was used on my ranch before my divorce. I put that rig threw hell and back a few times till the rust finally killed it. Broke in half. Looked real similiar including paint hahah
