    Question SCX10 Waterproof Question

Hello everyone. I Have begun the task of water proofing my rig I have it all torn down and just applied the second coat of plasti dip to my servo. My question is how do I remove the receiver from the receiver box? it seems to be stuck on there with double sided tape or something, and im afraid to apply force to it. Does the receiver have to come out or could i just plug everything back into it and then plasti dip the hell out of the inside of the receiver box?

Mine was stuck very well also, I just used a flathead screwdriver and tried to be gentle, it eventually popped loose. I've even reused the same stock tape multiple times repositioning it and it still holds well suprisingly. Pry a little, then jiggle, it will come up. It would be very inconvenient to try to do it "into" the box.

Yeah man, grab all four sides with one hand, grab firm, wiggle, tug, twist, push and pull the hell out if it. She will come free.
After pulling mine from the box I decided not to dip it. 1) I didn't have extension leads, 2) I just put globs of marine grease around all the seals and wire opening. I Though about "painting" the seams of the receiver box with plasti dip but just haven't gotten around to it yet.
    Cheers!

Thanks the small flathead did the trick, can't believe how well that tape works considering how my esc was barely holding on anymore.

I just plugged all my leads into it then sprayed the hell out of it worked like a charm

My esc's tape got dirt and stuff on it so it would stick any more so I just bought a roll of double sided tape about 2 - 3mm thick and put some of that on to hold it and it is still working great.

Take a quick look on YouTube. Type in Corrosion X RC ESC. No gunky plastidip. If you need to work on you stuff after you don't need to peel all that crap rubber off. You can even dip your brushed and brushless motors into Corrosion X!!

If you are ever having trouble removing double stick tape, here's a trick for you. Grab a short length of fishing line and hold the ends with both hands. It will slide in between the receiver and box, or whatever it is you are trying to remove, and cuts right through the double sided tape. Even works on the heavy automotive grade tape.

Interesting thought process.... Not to be rude but just because rcsparks hasn't used it doesn't mean it doesnt work... Corrosion X isn't designed to run marine electronics completely underwater... And still let's all the electronics dissipate heat properly. But if u still want to mess around with gunkydip that's your choice. But u better make sure your never upgrading anything on your rc again because it's a super pain in the ass to get it off.. Also if u miss even an air bubbles worth of plastidip on your electronics, the water will just go in the hole and stay trapped against your electronics causing it to corrode even faster, as with Corrosion X it's not possible for anything to get under it, all the water would be surface water and it would be allowed to dry very fast... Also. Go put your brushless motor in plastidip.... Lmao!

Im not saying it doesn't work but when you have 2 of the best RC Channels out there recommending plasti dip and liquid tape you go with what they recommend.

That's because getting corrosion x in Canada is tough to find. Most quality products stay in the states. Canada is so lame for stuff like that. So they don't recommend it because they probably never got there hands on it. But hey. If your scared to try it that's your loss.

Well, is it a once only application? Or apply before each run? Does it dry or harden? I've read it's ok for brushless motors is that true? And also that it wasn't good for servos? If so why and also, if so you would need plastidip for your servo and now that's two costs.
I don't know I've only tried the plastidip and like the results. Mind you, the corrosion x looks easy and effective. Im still not sold on the idea.

yes i have the mentality of a 13 year old.... good one. yet your on here asking how to remove something stuck on with tape... genius you must be. Maybe you better just stick to Tyco RC from Toys R Us. Clearly you aren't able to problem solve without someone having to hold your hand. So stick with the disposable toys tough guy.

What's with the attacks? What makes this hobby great is we all have our own way of doing things. If he doesn't want to try corrosion x it does not make him stupid. What works for you may not work for others. I have used corrosion x personally and ended up buying a new esc soooo?

It is not a one time application... U simply apply it on once every 6 months.... Never had a problem once. Even with servos.. Completely have submerged my vehicles many times driving under water. Also have used it with lipo batteries underwater no problems at all... Sooooo.. Also, the original poster was the one who started to be a jackass with his remarks about me implying things and saying I have a mentality of a 13 year old... This guy jumps to conclusions for no real reason. Genius this one..
