DIY headers for the Jet Boat

Back again with a few little pics.

After previously doing a DIY engine, I figured I needed to update the headers. I intially looked at buying a set of losi headers for the slider as a lot of folks use them and they look great. But being cheap as I am, I figured before I spend 20 bucks on some headers, I'll use some of the brass tube I have kicking about and try to make some.

All in all, I'm quite pleased.

Here's the brass tube all bent and in shape and soldered at the tip.

I attached a collector tube and gave them a couple coats of primer

Than the final coats which I chose to be white

By all means go for it, here, a new thread, or both. I don't mind. Perhaps over time we will see a few different DIY variations for others to enjoy and try.

Here's boat 1.... Hot pink VXL boat... Hauls ass!!! Has a clear plexu glass lid.

Boat 2 brushless water cooled OUTRUNNER 35A esc this ones not as fast.. But! The cool factor of the water cooled outrunner is pretty cool, with a small battery pack it Hauls almost as fast as te pink one. Green clear plexy lid

    Oh and one more

This boat will one day be getting a PICCO .08 nitro engine!!! It has a groupner jet drive with 3mm shaft. And beefier jet pump housing.

Great bunch of boats you got there! I've only ever seen one nqd with a nitro engine. The most I saw was a tank test though, never on open water.

I like the plexi glass/perspex tops I have an orange one for when I'm running the Gopro.

Wow I love those headers, they are pretty sweet nice job. They would look awesome on my UL-1 the stock plastic ones are really brittle.

    LOVE THE ORANGE LID

Ya I have never seen a nitro one before. The only issue I can see is too much power. Like my VXL powered pink boat goes the same speed at half throttle as it does at full throttle. The only differance it the amount of noise it makes lol, I think the VXL motor is Totaly over kill for such a small jet pump but then again over powering everything is my specialty ! Lol

I agree mate, get out the old brass tube and fit them on! Would look excellent on a nice boat like that.

You would likely want to run a flexi shaft as that would ensure no vibration with the nitro engine. Weight and keeping water out of it may be a problem but I still say go for it, trial and error makes for a fun time. Well at least if I'm only watching

These little NQD and Graupner jet's are flow limited to about 29,000 rpm under load. After that, it's like you say with the vxl, more noise but no more speed. So just gotta select the right kv motor for the batteries you're running. Considerable over powering and you'll just get cavitation and it's more a nuisance than fun. You've got a few boats so I would think you're likely familiar with it already.
