Phoenix Hexapod Walking Robot – Amazing Technology

RCSparks Studio Photography

Wow, isn’t that a Hideous piece of amazing technology? I am completely amazed at how far engineers have been able to take their designs using modern day robotics. The picture above is of a www.Lynxmotion.com “Phoenix Hexapod”, designed by a Norway resident – Robotic Mechanical Hobbyist – Kåre Halvorsen. This is not the only design by the robotics engineering phenom – and Kåre’s collection of robot design is only growing. Located in Pekin, Illinois – USA, Lynxmotion was founded by current President Jim Frye in 1995. His fascination with robotics led him into a new world of manufacturing and distribution for emerging designs – and global robotic engineering hobbyists. By using current technologies, such as onsite laser cutting, and injection moulding – the Lynxmotion products are well known, and well constructed. Offering technical support for their own products is a large advantage for this company, servicing an online population as well as local hobbyists.

When I had a chance to see one of the Lynxmotion products, I was instantly hooked. It was like the fictitious “Skynet” company from the old “Terminator” movies.. was finally at our doorstep of the RCSparks Studio. The Hexapod designed by Kare Halvorson was my first encounter with a “real” robot type of design.. and I see much potential for the Fun to be had, world wide. Check out this “Creepy Video” I did in the studio with the help of my friend (and Robot owner / Pilot) Ryan Blair.

And now that you have seen THAT video.. I know you are itching to know more about this creepy critter.. So without making you wait – I have already completed the other video.. For your viewing pleasure.

Hey Aaron.  Thanks for videos.  I’m saving my money right now to get the model you show in your videos.  I’ve always had a fascination for robotics.  Maybe it the Japanese in me.  I’ve shown interest in the past to purchase a robot.  But nothing on the market fit the bill.  Until now.  The latest technology is too cool.  And once I thank you just being there on Youtube and here.  You’re the greatest source for rc.  Your forums have already proven helpful for me.a
