Team RCSparks Goes Spring Scaling!
Posted by RCSparks in RCSparks Chronicles on April 8th, 2011 | 2 Comments »What an AWESOME day to go out scaling.. right on the brink of the huge snow melt about to happen here.. Team RCSparks heads out to film a fantastic Scaling video for the viewers of RC Adventures. Below, you will see the Rigs, and get a glimpse of what is coming your way this weekend! Enjoy….
Amazing.. today was crazy weather!! Snow, Blowing Snow, a bit of drizzle and beautiful sunlight. The group of us met at 1pm in the afternoon to take to one of the Secret Filming Areas of the RCSparks Studio … Though the snow was WAIST deep, our crew trudged on and persevered in the wilderness. The rigs ploughed through the drifts, and into the icy waters of southern Alberta Canada.
I rigged up an Axial SCX10 Dingo with one of my TachyonXC HD Cameras. The Rover like body and cage is perfect for the forward pointing camera. I think we may have just snagged some Epic onboard shots to mix in the RC Adventure series. The stock Axial Dingo did pretty good in the snow considering its smaller, 1.9 Flat Iron tires from Proline racing dont have a lot of surface width. The light weight chassis and frame scooted across the snow.. but did need a push occasionally. I was certainly impressed with the 2.4GHX controller and new ESC w/ included drag break. Great performance.
In the group we had 4 Axials and a Tamiya CR01 Jeep. Above is an Axial SCX10 with a Proline Comanche body attached to it. Also in this rig is a Team Tekin Hand wound Pro motor and FXR Combo. The wheels are 2.2 Mudslingers from RC4WD. The rest is a mystery.. to you and me.. Lol. This great looking rig was driven by the President and Leader of the Rude Boyz RC Garage.
And then came my beauty of a rig – my customized Jeep Wrangler based off of the Axial SCX10 Honcho – it has a slightly longer wheelbase than the original SCX10 Series. All beefed up, this rig is also completed outfitted by Team Tekin with an FXR and 35t motor combo. I burned a motor out today running a 3S lipo through it .. but the burst rate was 30c.. extended use seems to burn the com. What an awesome day!
I wish I had a better shot of the CR01 that came along for the ride today, it was a great rig – Lots of footage of it in the upcoming movie though!!
Here’s what RC Scale trucking is all about in my opinion.. Having a great time!
