Hello! I’m a newcomer to the RcSparks website and have decided I’d share my project to you guys!

It’s a Vintage 86’ Blackfoot, bought off eBay.

Of course, since it is eBay, I had a few disappointments when it arrived in its surprisingly small box.

    1: Steering knuckles were cracked

2: Front rims were also cracked, causing ‘death wobble’.

3: Body looked like sh&@ (scratched, cracks, rusted screws, etc.)

4: Whoever put the stickers on before must have had a stroke in the middle of putting them on because boy, it looked awful.

5: Mechanical speed controller was rusted out.

6: Controller antennae was loose, causing random things to happen while driving.

That was about it, so, I was off to the internet to track down parts, including but not limited to: Body, 86’ stickers, 86’ grill and tailgate, steering knuckles, and the remote and ESC from my scrapped SCX10.

    Picture from eBay:

I took it to Pismo because, why the hell not:

After some of the upgrades (waiting for Mciracing to send me the BFG and other stickers and for me to order some other parts):

    So far I’ve fixed problems 1, 2, 5, and 6.

I’ll keep you guys updated once I order a new, ehem, old grill and tailgate, also, I’m gonna add the hood parts from AmPro Engineering’s shapeways.

It’s fun restoring old rcs, the hardest part is tracking down the parts. It’s looking better and better! Are you planning on running it or keeping it as a shelf queen?

Yes! It’s super hard to find parts (the right ones anyways). I plan on having it be a shelf queen since this body is SUPER nice, but it’s also SUPER expensive. But I think I’ll run it once and record it, inside and out. Thanks for your feedback!

pick up a cheap lexan body for it, that way you can still run it, but not have the worry of damaging the expensive abs body, ruining the stickers or the chrome

I bought another body off my friend, it’s a 2016 Body that’s already banged up. I only paid $15. It’s gonna be my running body. On another note, my grill and tailgate should be coming in today!

The one with the Brat wheels was called the F150 Ranger XLT kit. My friend in High School had one that he banged up quite a bit. I hope one day they release it again, I want a scale looking Blackfoot truck.

really, hmm glad I didn't buy the one I was looking at on ebay than, it was on the same chassis as this one and being sold as an all original f150 ranger xlt, thanks @FordFan01 for the name I just couldn't remember what it was called, as for a scale f150 i've seem the body put on a tamiya cc01 chassis and it looked pretty good, i've also been considering buying one of these https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-10-RGT-R...322953?hash=item33d8e69809:g:2MEAAOSwVlVZ5sYH for another build I plan, the wheel base will have to be lengthened, I know the drive train fits nicely under a blackfoot body width wise.

I’ve seen them on the MST CMX chassis too. That way, it could perform like an SCX10 but have a much shorter wheelbase.
