    Right now I'm running 2 35T RC4WD cans on a AE5. I'm wondering if I should get a better ESC (HH BRXL) and better motors (HH CM), or upgrade to a Hobbyking X-Car 1900KV. Or possibly a Tekin ROC 412 and MMP setup. What are everyone's suggestions? I will be upgrading to all steel driveline before this.

    with the brushless setups it will not crawl slow as well ... but will be good for trails and general fun .
    The HH BR-XL is a awesome esc .... The HH motors hve great reviews but I have not tried them yet . I have the BR-XL and just did some modding to fit
    a 775 sized 18v Dewalt drill motor ... and It is nasty powerful .... I run 6S but last night i tested the new dewalt and was impressed on a storage charged 2S lipo .... I had to take a dremel to my motor mount ,and use spacers under the transmission to fit the Beast of a motor .

    Wouldn't the X Car be good because it's sensored? Or a ROC 412? Maybe a Pro4?

    1900 kv is slow ..... and may crawl well uncensored .... with brushless kv x volts = rpm
    so 1900 x 8.4v = 15,960 rpms
    3s =12.6v 12.6x 1900= 23,940
    4s= 16.8v x 1900 =31920
    .
    My calculations are based on fully charged lipos ... which is 4.2v per cell or S

    another thing to consider is program ability .... castle and other brushless setups have pc links avalibile . by being programable you can soften start up and make it begin just past the gitters to elimanite them ... making a uncensored setup crawl better....
    OO whynot has a inexpensive 50.00 mix up combo that he runs in several rigs that he does this way ....
    You could try his combo i think he uses them in 5 1:10 scale rigs and one 1:6 scale crawler ive seen his running videos and it seems good in all of them

    How do I calculate for brushed motors? I want to know how fast a 35T on 2 and 3 Lipo would be

    from there ( just a theory ) but
    if i do 12500/7.2 = 1736 ....... i may be able to use 1736 x 12.6 =21,873.6 and say that will be at least close to the unloaded rpm on a full charged 3S .... but am not 100% sure my math will work

    This chart is about the best I have come up with interpolating brushed turns to a KV rating. This isn't exact as different manufacturers have different ratings but it should be close.

    Basically put finger on the turn at the bottom, and see were it crosses the RPM on the left..... or do the math :)

    It's not a linear calculation. You have to take into account the exponential. Doubling the turn doesn't double the RPM. It's the formula above the line.

    So... a 35turn
    38431x(35 turns^ -0.891)=1614kv

    Broken down..
    (35 turns^ -0.891)=0.042
    0.042x38431=1614kv

    And you thought algebra didn't have an application into your life.... ;)

    so i was off 122 kv .... not to bad for guess work ....lol thanks droos ... and i know double turns will not double speed or kv ... it will go the other direction ... making it slower ...
    I am always learning new info about stuff .... Just yesterday i picked up a old Korg electribe ES-1
    and am figuring out how to use it .
    I also do HVAC repair .....another complicated mechanical beast ....lol just got my Universal certification a week ago ...... going for my electrical licence next .....
    when it comes to wiring houses the math is different but still there .....
    i repaired two heat systems this weekend for a small profit :)
    BTW i have years of experience on electrician work and a couple on hvac systems ..
    not sue if i have enough legit time on paper to get the electrical licence :( but i am going to try :)

    Nice man, and thanks so much

    I never knew that algebra had an application in my life, I'm learning it in 8th right now lol
