hi there. im considering getting my first trail truck but i got no clue where to start.

i live in copper cliff Ontario so theres lots of bush, trails and rocks.
i like the scx10 honcho but im not sure on it.
i dont relly want a kit as i want to get out there with the truck the day i get it.
id probably water proof it my self but if it comes water proofed even better.
i dont relly have a set budget in mind but id say 500$ should be enough.

    any ideas guys.

I would strongly suggest an SCX10 or maybe a Wraith or the new Ridgecrest.

The SCX10 is awesome. The RTR right out of the box is super capable, and very easy to modify.
You can get a waterproof servo for $20-$50, some PlastiDip for $5-$10 and Marine Grease for $5 and make it was water resistant as possible.

i dont relly like the wraith, the ridcrest is more of a rock crawler. im looking for something more truck like, kinda like the SCX10 honcho.

marine grease, where do i get it?.
as for water proof servos will the traxxas high torque servo do?

You answered your own question.. Honcho it is.
as long as the servo is rated 9kg or more it will be fine..

Just to throw my .02 in the honcho is a pretty kick a** rig but so are the ridgecrest and the wraith. (personally I dig the ridgecrest as it's mostly a wraith without the cage. You can't really go wrong with any of them. Have fun !!

Now my .02 but then again everyone's got it. I would go ahead and get one of the high torque, metal geared, waterproof servos from Hitec or savox. The Traxxas is ok but has plastic gears. Big tires and a hit to a decent size rock and bzzzz there went your servo gears. :tttt:

They wp hitec is a great servo. I usethem in everything. Even though I dont really dunk my rigs but better to be prepared. ANd they are cheap.

Honcho is a great rig ya cant go wrong unless ya let a girl drive it....Jk haha I say that becuase my gf drove one under my 18 wheeler....no match for that

I don't own one, but when I trail/comp my Wraith with the SCX10's, they can certainly be made to compete equally with everything I've seen.
Personally I like the looks of the RTR, but the idea of the kit for the SCX10, as I have bits left from my wraith upgrade. ;)

Thats why I went the SCX10 CF100 kit.. I am more of a REAL sorta person.. I mean sure the Wraith is a great RC but you dont exactly pass a Wraith on your way to the shops.
Where as I am more likely to pass a Cherokee or a Chevy or a Ford.
