first kit

    So I cant afford a trail truck kit but ive been seeing drifting kits showing up all over and they are all pretty cheap but I want to make sure I get a good beginner kit for like 100 any sugestions

    You can probably get a Tamiya tt01 for $125-175. not an RTR, just the kit

    I'd say search eBay and some of the bigger hobby stores to see what kits are around
    See what you like
    Then check the hobby stores online to see what the parts availability is
    No parts means pick a different one
    But with kits you more likely to find parts.

    I'm not sure about hpi, but tamiya or kyosho are probably going to be it as far as kit drifters go.

    Remember, bodies can be changed :)

    PS: I would recommend Tamiya as a good starter kit, tho it works for all experience levels. My whole family started with Tamiya kits, including my wife :D

    Tamiya tt01 is a great starter it's a little more expensive than your budget but I like mine and there are a lot of options out for them I have changed my chassi motor esc suspension and arms. I couldn't be happier.
