Hey all. I got me a great deal from my buddy RC_Psycho. Traded some things for his coast guard boat. It needed a little tlc but ive managed to patch her up pretty good.
He bought it used and a large portion of the top detail work was missing. so i spent the last couple evenings poking at it with a stick and managed to do pretty well i think.

here she is as she came to me. missing a few rails and the entire top thingermajigger.

I started soldering right away. and using my soldering iron and a bike spoke or two managed to replace the missing rails and repair the broken welds.

I had my kidlets help me test it in the tub. lol
    [IMG]

That was it for a night.

The next evening after the kids went to bed i started trying to make something to replicate this.

I think it turned out pretty darn good.
Using nothing but brain power and crap i had laying around i came out with this.

I used a case that my old ipod touch came in. a few bike spokes, some aluminum tubing, some parts tree pieces and part of a pen.

got it back in the tub.

I took it out for its first run today. the balance was way off. lol
ill see about getting the vid together tomorrow.

And tonight i painted the new rails and supports.
    I think she is beautiful.

The top even pops off if i need it to. but i may attach it permanently since it fits in my trunk lol

Let me know what you think of the work. or any ideas you may have.

    beautiful work and creativity!
If you don't want to change anything on top, you may try relocating the battery, motor, and electronics.. or just add some ballast on the side and end of the hull where it needs it. This will change the draft and make the prop prone to damage in shallow water, though.

Yea I've moved a few things around and plan to balance it as well as I can.
I'm considering getting some diferent props and reversing one motor so I can set them up to counter rotate. I think that would help allot for the handeling. I may get to mess with it tomorow since I've got the day off work.
The video for the first trip out is uploading now :)

I know how you feel (being afraid of breaking it) as I am currently restoring my Viking R/C Cruiser that is about 30 years old!

here is the new one. :p

Got the boat out for a second trip. she takes the waves pretty well.
I managed to balance it out pretty well with pretty much the first rock i picked up off the ground. might try a little more next time out. but it made a huge improvement.

Lol. Yea I was gonna say it's in the title. It's a shame it's discontinued and they no longer make it.
