I am headed to Calgary for this event, and would like any suggestions to prep Grape Ape (axial scx10) for it.

So far, I have a lot of mods on this truck, and basically with the sole exceptions being the rear shock towers, trans case, and axle housings are all hardened/upgraded, etc.

    from the bottom:
rc4wd Rock Crusher II X/T 1.9s on gmade stamped steel beadlocks.
full knuckle, chub and outdrives in aluminum, all gears and axles are hardened steel and universals in front.
Full aluminum 4-link setup and steering assembly
90mm in rear and 100mm in front superlift scale shocks with dust boots
    savox 0231 servo
    Atomik Fireball esc/35t motor
heyok BEC and 4a Winch controller
    3racing winch
    aluminum rock sliders
dual 2s 40c 5000mAh lipo in parallel mounted crossways just in front and in back of the transmission.
full white underglow 12v system (external from rest of rig)
headlights/turn signals/brake lights (non-scale, just lights, no flashing or anything)
I have a scale interior going in, but am waiting for the axial gunrack shotgun and rifle as well as a steering wheel and shifter first
a few items are going to get mounted on the outside, shovel, axe, prybar, jerry can, jack
Spektrum dx4s and sr410 tx/rx which will run the winch and shifter servo

I haven't decided to run the AX2 or not yet, though...

    Any thoughts or ideas?

Hardened outputs are pretty much a must for a ttc
And pick up some mip driveshafts for it, or junfac ;)
Be sure you get a Driver to go with your interior, it will earn you a much of scale points and make sure your rig is completely comp legal ;)

Make sure everything is protected from water and keep your lipos away from water or waterproof them :)

yea, Ive got those items. like I said the drivetrain is bulletproof, only plastic is the housings, I bought MIP shafts when I bought the truck in January got all the hardened stuff, from the axleshafts to the gears inside the axles and trans, I only kept the plastic spur. I think you mean on the trans when you say hardened output shafts, but mine has the solid 1 piece hardened unit from RRP, with the outdrives built in.

Thanks Beast! I appreciate the thoughts as I can use them to help me make sure all mine is buttoned up just right for the TTC...

    SO FREAKEN EXCITED!!!!!!

edit: I have a passenger as well as driver already, lipos W/P as best as I can, they survived 3 days in the torrential rains up here

all else is w/p or boxed or ballooned in<--- ok it is NOW, thanks again Beast!! lol

Nothing wrong with an AX2, I ran one for years. Only reason I changed it was it wouldn't handle the dual motors I dropped in. :)

Yea Beast, that would be cool, but the TTC is in 3 weeks!!

Yea, I have one, with a nice savox servo for it, and I have used it, but with all the gnarliness and all from the TTC I decided not to use it... not alot of xp with it for one thing and no protection from elements for the gears and I have a reputation for being hard on my RCs in the first place.

I went out and practiced a bit yesterday with the new tires and it looks like I may need a lift kit or longer body posts, which would be my choice

/facepalm. Misread that as AE-2 not AX-2. Ignore that, I'm still using the stock tranny with ultra duty gears.

Damn! that is going to be one tough rig to compete with... I know I'm headed to the right place now!!

745 miles, 13 hours EACH way, a week in Calgary, culminating in the 2014 Rude Boyz TTC... What more could an RCADDiCT want in a vacation

it'll be worth the trip though man! you can be sure of it! and that rig should be a pretty easy competitor hehe. This year i don't plan on finishing the courses in a great time.

so 9 days from now is the 12th... I am leaving the 12th. at about midnight. that will get me roughly into town anywhere from 3-5PM (barring traffic, accidents, road work, etc)

I plan on taking some time to check out Calgary and probably hit the PM Hobbycraft (both) and maybe hook up for an evening run somewhere with, oh I dunno, anyone. On the 13th, supplies and such while doing the tourist thing during the day and headed for Waiporous that night, the 13th. Partly so I can make sure I can find the location, but also because I will be camping out that way for all but my last night in town, the 18th, and headed back to the states early AM the 19th. The 18th, I was hoping for a last trail run, and maybe some touristy garbage too.
