I'm from montana & looking to back into rc but will need advice and guidance to help with my project
Hello Durtydaddy...what's your project?
I have a great planes Stinger RC boat but it is so old that I need to switch over to digital so I can get rid of using crystals LOL
Crystals? Wow. A true antique...time to to upgrade to 21st century tech...lol. You've come to the right place for advice and ideas. Lots of really knowledgeable people in this group. Electronics wizards, styrene gurus, and mechanical know-how just oozing off the pages.
But the problem is $ I need to do it fairly cheap
I'm a trail truck guy myself, because anything I put in the water sinks, and anything that I try to fly does the exact opposite. But you do have a wealth of knowledge and experience here on the forums to draw on...
I'm sure somebody in the group can point you in the right direction for your electronics upgrade...lot's of entry-level radio systems to choose from out there...but remember, sometimes you buy cheap, you get cheaper. And I'm sure you don't wanna see your boat at full throttle, disappearing over the horizon...
It's just been so long since I've been in the RC world
So what is a decent cheap controller
Honestly, I can't recommend something, 'cause like I said, I'm a ground guy. But I'm pretty sure somebody in the boat forums would be able to point you right where you need to go. Or any other of some of the guys on the forums. There's guys on these forums whose interests take in a lot of aspects of the RC world... Give it a couple hours, and I'm sure somebody will have given you what you're looking for...
welcome to the forums
Welcome, if you haven't already, you might post in the boat section...

What I like to use is CRC Conformal coating. It's an aerosol, and abrasion resistant as well as waterproof. I use 3 coats, on every circuit board in every servo, ESC, receiver, light controller, and so on. I have fully immersed my rigs (once for half an hour, and not on purpose) and have never had a failure. Great stuff. You can get it at industrial supply stores. A little pricey, but well worth it...
So what kinda price are you lookin to spend? A hundred bucks and a 2.4gig Ikonic three channel will do you well. Hell if you want i will sell you a red cat racing three channel 2.4 gig receiver and transmitter but it is a pistol grip and paypal would be best for exchange of moneys. Shoot me a message by selecting my name and private message ooops i think $50 is fair tell me if not with shipping from CT
What part of Montana are ya from? I'm just over by the ND border lol.
