So I found one of these Dingo clones for a really good price and decided to pick one up after reading a lot of reviews and watching plenty of videos. It seems like a very capable truck with some potential. The first thought in my mind was "what can I replace with aluminum parts"? I can convert the chassis to aluminum for $45. There are aluminum axle housings and complete assemblies for under $50 for the assembly. You can also get an aluminum transmission housing. Other than those, there aren't any other metal upgrades as of yet. Replacing the plastic links is easy enough with DIY methods. Some features I like are the locked diffs, the two speed transmission (even though it does not come with a servo for it), the chassis mounted steering servo, bead lock rims out of the box, and the price. Since I plan on putting a better servo in for steering anyway, I can move the original back to the transmission for shifting. I am not sure if I will replace the suspension at first, I will have to see how it works. I am eager to see if SCX10 bumpers will work on the P402 because the chassis design is very similar. And if anything does break, replacement parts are not too expensive. I will probably wait until I get all of the parts in before I continue the build thread though.
