I'm going to be building my new Hpi BAJA 5B SS. It's the new 2014 version that's got upgrades out of the box. #112457 Baja 5b SS
I have 1/8, 1/10 and 1/18 but this is my first 1/5 rc. This build is going to have a lot of pictures because everybody likes pictures. If you have any upgrades that are pretty necessary please post it. Feel free to comment and enjoy!

I hate the little tabs there such a pain to take off! The ball jig is really useful and makes it really easy to get the ball joints installed.

I started looking for the e-clips to hold the hexes and then I remembered that this version doesn't need e-clips to hold the hexes.

Here's some more progress. The servo saver is really nice and seems like it could take quit a beating. I think I'm going to get the DDM black magic 5000mah battery. I'm not quit sure what servo for the throttle yet, I was thinking the Savage xl steering servo. Does it fit?

The only thing I could complain about is the horrible stench of the tires! Got some more done. Now I have to wait for the servo and battery to arrive to finish the electronics.

Got some done not much. I installed the sway bar and it's seems it limits the suspension travel. The sway bar is hitting the bumper reinforcement which is limiting the travel. It looks like it limits it at 3/4 way up. I have a feeling I'm going to have to shave it down or cut some of the bumper reinforcement. Does anybody know how to fix it?

    Here are some pictures.

I'll see how it goes first with the sway bar like that before hacking away. Started the rear portion. I think I'm going to paint the body orange.

Got some more done, forgot to take some pictures because I was having so much fun! The diff was intimidating because of how big it is and how complex.

Looks great. Sway bar should be fine, wait till the suspension is in and the tires are on.

I'm going to keep the regular can pipe first and then I'll put the tune pipe that is included. Just so I can get used to it first. Hopefully I'll get the electronics by Tuesday.

Finally got the electronics today! Installed a Savox SC-0251MG for the throttle/brake. I picked this servo because it has the highest torque for the price, it has 220oz of torque. Also installed a Venom 6v 4200mAh battery and a Sullivan Crap Tap. I'm going to use a Spektrum 3 channel radio for now. Pictures coming tomorrow.

Thanks guys for all the comments so far. For some reason I have two extra washers and it's driving me CRAZY! I checked through the manual and I don't think I skipped any washers, I have a feeling it's for adjusting the servo horn.

Finished building the rear shocks and switched out the dx3c for a new Futaba 4PLS.

It's really difficult wrestling the tires and foams into place! ARRRRG!

I finished the body and started breaking it in. Wow what a BEAST! Its so awesome! I'm using Oneillbrothers break-in technique. I changed the rear toe to 0 degrees because it's chewing up the tires on asphalt.

    Here's the finished product.
