Big mama finally has a friend. lol
I was up at our local thrift store and came across this bad boy for $14.00. we also had a card for %30 off. so i grabbed it and ran.

This beast has it all. Full interior. opening doors with panels inside, a working tailgate, a hood that pops up including a prop rod to hold it, and an engine under it.

I tore apart my ax-10 hummer for parts. it was worth it. lol
I quickly built some frame rails and started placing thing all over to see how im gonna need to space them.

Ive got most of it done now. I was able to test drive it in the house last night. it should be good to go pretty much.
But ive got to go to work for the next 9 hrs soo ill update when i get back home. :)

hey all. im back to finish the first post.
here is my frame all finished. It will look better once its painted. Id have liked to make it closer to the floor on the truck. but the transmission was problematic. lol
    [IMG]

and for my next trick i extended the front drive shaft to almost twice the normal length.
To do so i used polymorph to join a male and female drive shaft piece together with a bolt in the middle to hold them solid.
Gonna find out just how tough this stuff really is. lol
    [IMG]
I then held it in place by putting small hole in the drive shaft with a pin thru it so one end could not slide.

    a acceptable amount of flex.

I had some ripsaws kicking around so i gave them a try on it. looks much better. just wish the rims were wider. But its almost in running order.

Its looking great so far, and is gonna be strait up awesome when im done.

gonna go make a esc and battery mount, maybe get some lights wired up tonight aswell. :)

yea i was thinking that aswell.
I just finished Installing the lights and a battery tray.
Also had its maiden run. its tippy. i need to widen the stance. here is the battery tray.

and my wiring for the lights.

The roof lights were a little less strait forward. I had to find a way to fit the leds in the giant light pods on the roll bar.
I found some mounting hardware from a roof rack that never got used. they fit perfectly. I put the led inside it then glued it inside the light pod.
    They worked well.
I did my best to hide and protect the wires.

    and Voila
    [IMG]

The maiden run went very well. other than being tippy it works very well. Id make a viedo tonight but its 12..28am. time to hit the sack.

Man that looks sick!! Think maybe some 1.55s and a droop setup would help the tipping? Just an idea

Got a couple vids together. This is the video of my late night testing with everything how it was above.

I Took the wider axial beadlock rims added a crap tone of weight to them and slapped on a set of ripsaws because they looked way better. It made a huge improvement. It takes way more of an angle to tip it over now.
This next video is from today, daddys first trip out to the trails.
It was a tight fit to get mama and daddy in the trunk together. lol
    [IMG]

everything worked great but the front extended drive shaft. i only put a screw thrue one shaft to the other with the polymorph to take the torque. it was snot up to the task. with some hard reversing it spun off. thankfully it threaded itself tight going forward so we finished our journey without real issue.

so on our way home i swung by our local hobby shop and got a wheel hub to use as a hanger bearing.
I used a dremal to grind the tip to length and make a flat spot on the shaft for the grub screw. fit it all in perfectly. this method has been working without any issue on big mama since i built her.

    I great shot of daddy
    [IMG]

    and closed up
    [IMG]
I gave thebeadlocks a shot of white paint while i was switching them over. i hated the green on this truck.
we went out a second time after the drive shaft fix. Ill get that vid together tomorrow. Man i enjoy getting out for a good day on the trail.

Gave Big daddy a tummy tuck. :)
The only real issue we ran into on the trail was the belly clearance. as you can see in the pic above. it hung kinda low.
i removed every bit of spare space under the truck. I had to cut the axial frame ends off.
Even got the transmission up in as tight as possible.
I had to lengthen the rear links once i moved the frame up. Easily done with a couple spacers i had laying around.

The kids got pretty excited when i told them yhey could come out with me to test it.

the frame would drag on this before. I also reinforced the frame behind the front wheels. you can see it in this pic.

Its no longer a problem. lol

Hey all. Big daddy has gone brushless. I picked up a 25a hobbywing esc with a very small 12t motor for $25 on kijiji.
Turns out it was another forum member. evil_ernie lives very close to me. :)

I had a 12t hobbywing motor kicking around that was proper sized for my truck. Turns out its a great combo.

It has enough torque to turn all 4 wheels even at low speed with the truck held still. and too much on 3 cell. lol I snapped the output shaft right off the tranny.

But it just so happens i had a hardened steel one from the first time i upgraded my honcho.

so my next order of business will be to rebuild the tranny.
I should have taken the camera out. it was impressive for a 25a esc. Gonna save the little motor and use it in latrax rally.
