Hey all. Ive gotten allot of questions about my "secret Weapon" combo that i worked out thru trial and error. So I figured id start a thread specifically for it. Ive come across what im willing to call a near perfect setup. It requires a little soldering and waterproofing. but so far its been a solid combo with no issues ever in several different setups.
    AND FOR ~ $50.00

Ive got it in my SCX-10 Honcho, My Big Daddy 1/7 scale ford ranger. My sons slash 2wd and now even in my AX-10 Scorpion Rock Crawler. my only issue with it in the crawler is the drag brake could be stronger.

The Trick to get smooth even power out of it is to turn the start force all the way down and set the timing to low.

    here is the motor.

Feel free to add any info you can if you decide to try this setup out. I swear by it. let me see it in your setup.
Ill add more to the thread as needed.

Would a VXL-3s ESC work with that motor?

im currently running a 3900kv motor with this esc in my wroncho, and it runs great on a 90t spur with a 18 tooth pinion. haven't taken it actually crawling yet but it has more than enough speed for the truck. I have plans to get a few more for spares and a couple future projects I have planned, including my ecx torment, and maybe a couple in my 4x6 lunchbox. the only problem I had is the switch went bad after the second run but that was an easy fix.

really like the speed variation and torque that set up puts out im thinking of building an rr10 bomber would you have any idea how well would that work with the bombers 2 speed transmission?

because ive heard alot of complaints about the bombers speed in high mode being really slow for a rock racer? and how does the brushless motor work so well even after running through all that water?

I think I over loaded something on mine. I was running it on the wroncho with my monster tires, before the start of my monster 6x6 build, and heard a pop then lost all drivability, it still had steering but no drive at all. I was crawling a set of railroad ties and punched the throttle when it popped, checked the motor on another esc and its good, not sure what happened.

Sounds like yours might have given out.

As for how it would work in a bomber. I'd say probably pretty well. I'm gonna find out soon enough. I think the bomber is my next rig. Gonna get it when I do my taxes. I've already got a spare combo kicking around.

Long runtimes and most power are opposite characteristics. This will be system independent.

If you find a good battery that has low resistance (high C rating) for power, its going to deliver more current thus discharging faster.

Long run times are always going to be dictated by capacity in milliamp hours, mAH

Have you ever tried the new 3300kv from bobbyfans? It doesn't have the heatsinked ribs.

just some 110mm cheapos off ebay. i think you can get them at hobby king. I had to switch out the oil for actual shock oil and limit them to 95-100 mm. cant remember what exactly now. but they were very tippy at full length. and the stock oil smelled like burnt motor oil. its all in one of my threads here. but it was before the forum changes a few years ago. i have no idea where to find anything anymore. lol I also use to be much more active on here. just way to hard to find my own posts and posts im interested in now. :/

    no i have not.

Alright thanks, do you think running the stock axial ones in full droop with no oil is good?
