I'll have to watch the updates later, Im a couple behind now...
I've seen people take 1.7 tires and put them on 1.9 wheels. I sure you could find the best way to do so.
I got there in the end, I just removed the 1.7 inner ring and used a bit of pipe with the correct inner diameter to fit the 1/14 truck tires.
Been a bit slow with the updates here, done a few videos since I last posted. Last one posted here was part 9, and now we are up to part 16.
Rather than dump a whole lot of videos into this post, I'll just put the Playlist link here.
I'll try to remember to post them here as I upload them.
So I just watched all 16 videos, and it took all night to do. I feel like I have a welding tan! How much does this car weigh so far? 5k? I love your work and I'm really looking forward to the metal body since that's my style too.
Wow, all 16 in one sitting? I can relate though, I did that watching a guy building a 1:1 rat rod once, I wanted to know what he would do to it next.
Not sure of weight, I expect it will be about 5kg by time it is finished for sure. I am taking a few weeks off working on it so I can get some other stuff squared away before I start the body work.
Are you using aluminum or steel for the body? Watching all the videos was kind of like inspiration to record my own work. What do you use to edit the videos? By the way, I really like that drop axle you where working on; Are you using that for the rat truck?
Will be using mild sheet metal for the body. Probably about 0.8m~1mm thick.
For video editing I use VideoPad (there is a free version, full version is quite cheap).
Yep, I have a couple of Rat builds on. The charity roaster and a pick up tanker.
This is awesome. I'll have to sit down when I get a chance later on and start watching your build videos because the pictures definitely have me hooked.
It's well worth a watch that's for sure!
I have been forgetting to upload videos here on the forum, so check out the build playlist if you want to catch up: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLr9OWm93ukLvb2l8WbiryyNVWZzegX_6k
However, I have finally got to the body work, this is the video I posted yesterday.
Great minds think alike!
I had only decided to mount the servo on the firewall yesterday
Have you checked out the RC Rat Rod build on RCEveryday YouTube channel? It is pretty cool, he is working on his steering at the moment also. He has a great lowrider project in the works too and his 4x4 builds are really nice.
That's cool .. Thanks for that link ... Actually what you've done is delay the build whilst I sit and watch everything
Been sometime since I remembered to post a video on this build here, so thought I better put the last one I did on this thread.
Been about 10 months in the making so far and coming along quite well.
Great video ,,, thanks..
Been oh so long since I remembered to update this thread, up to part 39 now!
Here's the playlist if you want to binge
I have another custom RC Rat Rod on the go as well, it's pretty neat.
Well, this build is pretty much done now.
It will be going to auction soon. Keep an eye on my YouTube channel, I don't think I can announce the auction here as it may breach the forum rules about selling via ebay.
