For the front, it's complicated and uses my cage. I made a clip from styrene that is glued and screwed to the top of the hood where the old plastic mounts were located. It's ugly (do to gluing surface area) but I haven't had an issue with it.

For the rear, just as complex
I cut and drilled some aluminum standoffs. I made a styrene brace and mounted it to the frame.

The clamp pushes into the front cage. Then the standoffs hold the rear down and stop the front from sliding back.

Yes. I bought some thin clear lexan and molded it as best I could with heat. I glued the lexan into the what was left after cutting the windows out of the interior.

That is a pretty neat way to mount the body without having the posts sticking out.

Some random pictures of the event.....

Lined up and waiting to run

I managed 65 out of 70 scale points for the event. Not having a transfer case hurts me a bit.

I have finally found my next set of axles for this truck. I was going to build a set of SCX10II axles for this year but because of shortages and availability of gear sets, I never got around to it. I also wanted similar diamond axles similar to the ones I have on the truck, just in a small pumpkin SCX10II style ring/pinion.

    The wait is over!
Next post will be adding these to this long-term never ending build

For Christmas I picked up a set of the Diamond SSD axles that I mention in my previous post. These are killer and the fit was great. The center housing and axle tubes are separate and should allow differing axle tube lengths in the future. The tubes are aluminum and the center is plastic. I also grabbed new SSD cHubs, knuckles, lockers and some Vanquish gear sets. I went with stock Axial shafts and universals with Avid bearings to finish out the set.

Finished rear with high pinion input.

I'd like to replace the hardware with Stainless screws but the new SCX2 have some oddball lengths and sizes.

I've preliminarily mounted these but other than lower links, nothing else is close. The entire front axle will need some major geometry changes with position and panhard mounting, which I did expect. More on that as I get into and decide how I going to tackle the setup.

I am in awe of this build. Your build skills are fantastic. I would love to get into scale building but I wouldn’t even know where to start.
    Awesome thread!

Thank you. You should just find a theme and shoot for it. Grab a frame and find a body you want to use and make a decision to make vs. buy the parts. Most of this was built with a hacksaw and some cheap Harbor Freight files. Toward the end I added parts made with my router but even these could have been made with files.

I think I will. I am at the opposite end of RC at the moment as I just got my first car (stock Slash) in a long time but I really have the bug.
I ordered gear to start airbrushing because I like the idea of customizing bodies.
I even have access to a decent 3D printer at work if I can learn how to use it.
The biggest thing that intimidates me is electrical stuff. I really have no clue in that area. I need an idiots guide to RC electrical. I’d try some lights.
It seems like a lot of people who are doing scale builds use the SCX 10. Looks like a good place to start.

I just bought a 3D printer for Christmas, should open up a lot of new possibilities.
Actually using it now. Printing a spool roller....

I keep regurgitating this thread, but because I built this and love the way it turned out. I'm keeping with it for now, making improvements as I go instead of spreading the cash around other builds. That said I'm mulling a class2 based on a Chevy Colorado tuber I saw on the web. I need to figure out the body as I have never seen one. Printed maybe?

So far I'm impressed with the PLA I have. No idea long term.
