Ok. here is an update on this shock mod. i have found this to be the quickest way for me to do this mod. as before cut the shock cap off on each side of the mounting hole, remove the rubber seal from inside the shock cap, now i used an old chop stick but find something wooden to screw the shock cap onto, mount it in a vice and then just file the rest of the mounting lug off.
then as before drill ya hole (thats what she said) use a button head screw, fit the rod end and glue in place.
For Traxxas big bore shocks, you will want LOSI MINI T SPRINGS & some Delrin SPRING SEATS.....I got my Spring seats from.
Excellent. My big bores, mini t springs and cups will all be here tomorrow.
Here are the part numbers and lengths for reference:
2660's = 3.5"
2661's = 3.75"
2662's = 4"
2660 is "Long" 3.5";
2661 is X Long 3.75";
2662 is XX Long 4";
Don't wanna spoil anything, but I believe this is right, measurements are e2e.
Most commely used are the 2660's with shock cap mod (which makes it 4"), or you could use the 2662's with a Dlux standoff for bigbores.
Losi mini-T front springs are shorter then the rear spings, normal way to use would be 2660 with front springs and 2662 wit rear springs. Offcourse you could use the front springs on the larger 2662, but you would have to use external limiters.
Oh.........And i will just add that i have fitted two o-rings to each piston rod, to adjust travel.
I went with the 2660's by the time I do the cap mod they will be right around 4 inches.
I got my shocks from CKRC $18 for two, comes with mystery oil and full length RED medium springs, no preload spacers but i dont need um
Model: trx4962. from CKRC with the cap mod done eye to eye center is@ (4 1/4 or 108.5mm)
Finished mine up tonight.
