I have the Sv2 4600kv Neu-Castle 1406 series brushless system in my 2wd slash. Lots of power and speed. I use 2s and 3s lipos. I got it back in August of 2011 and never any problems with it. I just put it in my 2wd slash. I had it in my evader ext2. I would go with the 4600kv. Or the 5700kv.

so 4600kv or 5700kv for the 4x4? i have been reading and ive heard that the esc over heats because the slash is a heavy truck.. have you ever had this issue? what do you think of the mamba max pro systems? have any experience with them?

I have not had any problems with the sv2 4600kv over heating in my 2wd slash. The mamba max pro is a powerful system. I know alot of people are using the sidewinder sct 3800kv Neu-Castle 1410 series brushless systems in their Short Course trucks. It cost around $100. I don't know if Castle makes a waterproof sidewinder sct 3800kv brushless system. The mamba max pro SC 2400kv for 4x4 slash is $183 on ebay, but it's not waterproof. The waterproof 1/8 mamba max monster 2 with 2650kv brushless combo cost around $300. For the 4x4 slash the mamba max pro SC 2400kv or the sidewinder sct 3800kv neu-castle 1410 series is probably the way to go. Just not sure if they make those waterproof.

this is the new sidewinder (SV3) Castle Creations | Sidewinder 3
But they sell a combo as well using the 1406 series motors 4600kv, 5700kv, 6900kv, 7700kv. whats the difference between the two series.

For the 4x4 Slash The Sv2 or Sv3 1406 series motors 4600kv, 5700kv, 6900kv, 7700kv might have some heating issues. If your only running 2s lipos then you might not get too hot. You will have to watch your gearing and motor temps. If you don't care about being waterproof, then I would go with the Sv2 sidewinder SCT ESC with 3800kv motor or the mamba max pro SC esc 2400kv motor. You can always waterproof the esc yourself.
