I picked up a new boat lol, its a gorgeous 1/8 scale 48" hydro it was nitro but has been converted to electric. It came with all the hardware, Neu 1527 motor and a 10s Swordfish esc. It came with a replacement windshield and a repair was made to one sponson that needs to be repainted. Also came with a new set of graphics and paint codes if I need to give it a full paintjob.

Those are some really cool graphics. Are you going to remove the pipe now that it's electric?

I've been doing some work on this boat and think it's just about ready for a test run. I replaced the Castle connectors on the esc with 8mm bullets to match my 5s packs and shortened the 8 gauge :) wires.
Made a couple new Lexan hatches for the main compartments, put a new windshield in the cowl and added some battery straps.
I forgot about one of the cool things about this boat it has servo controlled canard wings on the front.

All loaded up and ready to go (I hope lol). Squeezed in two Revolectrix 5s packs in series, the Swordfish esc has an anti-spark wire to prevent connector damage when plugging in the packs. There is quite a "pop" without it and the arcing takes chunks out of the bullet connectors. :)
I'll have to use a receiver pack until I get a BEC good for 10s, the one I have is only for 8s I guess.[IMG][IMG]
Might get to run it today if it's not too muddy around the pond after the rain yesterday.

Smokin Joe's is going to the Nats in Vegas! They just added FE scale to the lineup. Looks like I'll be also be entering nitro scale, sport 40 nitro and FE, and tunnel hull nitro and FE.
I have to make a cockpit interior for this boat now to make it legal.[IMG]

Well, my new winter project is a rebuild of the Smokin' Joe's, while racing in Vegas I hit a cowl that someone lost from their boat and my pitman and I didn't see it. It kicked up the rudder and that revealed rotten wood in part of the transom in a sealed off section of the rear sponson. There is some cosmetic damage (not mine :)) that was poorly repaired on a front sponson, and the rear winglet on one side is cracked where it attaches.
But the first thing to be fixed was the motor mount, the way it was set up it was built into the boat that made it impossible to change the motor. After fighting to get the motor and mounts out (the only accessible bolts had their heads epoxied over) I adapted a mount from OffshoreElectrics to fit, it needed some material milled off the front to fit the water jacket. It will be epoxied in the boat and the motor can easily be changed by removing four screws from the top.

The transom is being repaired with new ply and glass and I'm moving the rudder inboard to the tub where I think it should have been originally. I'm also moving the rudder servo to its own waterproof box in the back to make a little more room for the batteries. I cut the deck of the rear section under the turbine pipe to make it a hatch for easy access to the rudder servo, strut, and rudder mount.
The servo mount is finished and I'm building the box for it now.

The paint job is fairly simple but it's automotive paint and needs clearcoat. I have some paint codes but I still have to track some down in small quantities., the rest is all decals and Wesley's Graphics hooked me up in record time.
It's going to be a big project but it's a long winter lol, and I still have my Executone 1/8 scale build I'd like to get back to.

Been making some progress, the transom is all patched up with new ply and fibreglass. The motor mount is in and all structural repairs are done. Now it’s a lot of sanding, the clear coat is pretty thick.

Still working away, I figure I've got 100 hours in so far :), kind of looks like a rat rod but all the structural repairs are done, the rudder servo box is in and the hatch supports are done for the new hatch/turbine tube. Now it should be pretty much just body filler, primer, and paint. And a ton more sanding lol. I just ordered paint for it from House of Kolor in the USA, I have the paint codes from the real boat on my blueprints and the yellow was supposed to be neon yellow but not many people use it on the scales because it fades so badly. But I think it would look spectacular with neon yellow so I'm going for it and I'm using HOK show car clear cote with extra UV blockers and I'll keep it covered when it's sitting out in the sun. The last picture is a boat that looks like it might be done with the neon yellow.

Thanks but we'll see how good my painting skills are with this one, just ordered the paint from House of Kolors, primer, base color, intercoat clear, and finish clear. Yikes lol.
