I dont own a Summit but I do own other traxxas trucks, I've had alot of issues with their 540 motors burning out after only a few runs. I'd test the motor on another rc and see if it works or not

just hook the motor to a battery, if it dont run its toast. if you turn the shaft by hand and it works your brushes/ windings are going bad . time for a new motor. traxxas motors arent the best anyways.

CrawlHog: what other motors would you suggest for the traxxas summit. traxxas is sending me another titan 775.

If you are planning on going lipo the dewalt 14.4v is a great $30 upgrade.two to three times the torque of a titan has bearings instead of bushings, replaceable brushes.and can be geared up for some more speed.it's pretty much bombproof.if you want to stay brushed and waterproof

i would just run that one for now,and before it dies do some searches on motors. depending on you budget look into a brushless system, or get your self a good rebuildable motor. check out holmes hobbies he makes some of the best motors out there.

Also try rebinding the Rx to The tx
If it loses link it goes into fail safe cuts the power to the motor
Should still have steering and servos if that is the case
Use high quality batts in the Rx that can also cause issues

Hi Wayne, when you bought the Summit, did you do any kind of break-in on the brushed motor? I also have a Summit. The Titan 775 is a good motor but only after proper break-in. Otherwise there is a ton of posts about how garbage it is on other forums. I recommend doing a water break-in. I have included a youtube link below for example. There are lots of guides on how to do it. A quick search will find one. I would recommend a couple C size cells over AA's. I would definitely perform this procedure on the new one Traxxas sent out, you will notice a bit of a difference in performance, but most importantly it should be a heck of a lot more reliable.

Sorry, I was responding to your original post about the motor stopped working and was giving advice for your incoming replacement. I guess, looking at the datestamps, you probably already replaced it.

As for the LED's, check the wires for cuts and that they are not really tight and being pulled on. Unless you have really hit that rear corner against something hard, the LEDs are unlikely to have burned out or been damaged. So again I would suspect wiring, especially if the rest of the lighting works and that one rear cluster is out.

Broken wire is likely the culprit

If the servo moves it must be in the diff it self.

In hook the servo horn test sevo and the mechanism you may have to rotate the wheels a bit for it to lock and unlock. The micro servos are finicky they some times just die or strip the plastic gears

i took the servo horn off and flipped the toggle switch and still nothing happened. so i took the servo apart and the gear looked just fine. so i dont know what the problem is but i am going to just buy a new servo. i think i will go with a metal geared servo this time.
