Some of the screw holes were pretty tight especially when installing the truss on top of the axle and I was afraid I might suddenly strip a thread but it all went together and is very solid.

I also ordered a Hilborn Style hoodscoop, I need to mount that (I am custom mounting it so it will actually be coming out of the hood) finish fitment of accessories and electrics today, paint tomorrow and Friday, let cure, Sunday trail run!

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. My blue F350 had a hard roll over on a concrete track which busted the rear axle, cracked the roof of the body, and broke the front binder mount.

My Tamiya High-Lifts days as a (albeit not very good) trail truck were over, but it wasn’t done yet. So I put the crew cab build on pause till I can muster up enough confidence to use bondo and went to work on the high lift. I always liked the older style monster trucks with leaf springs, straight rail frame, and the heaviness. So I bolted on some Yota II axles, stiffened up the suspension, slapped on some Traxxas monster truck tires, reworked the steering and body mounts, and slapped on a Bigfoot body. Yes Bigfoot 1 didn’t have a straigh rail chassis, but I’m planning on ordering a jconcepts 1989 F250 body as it’ll look more appropriate. I still need to order the correct rear tires, add the shifting servo, and build the 4 wheel steering (as it’ll look more scale and without it, it has about an 11ft turning radius.

Photobucket isn’t working at the moment so I have to use the ‘media’ feature.

I worked on my f350 stepside dually build some more, added a full width aluminum plate to the rear section from just behind the transmission to the back of the frame, this will be for the esc and receiver to mount, i'll mod a stock axial battery plate and fit it sideways in front of the transmission for the battery, the servo is chassis mounted already and I found out i'm 2 rod ends shy of having all 8 for the front 4 link, won't need them on the rear as it's going to be leaf springs, and I decided not to use the tamiya tires on this truck, while they look good on the wheels they are way to small for the truck itself, so i'm either going with a set of mud slingers or a set I found on ebay that look like dick cepek mud country tires

Iced my battery-packs twice today, in different meanings of the word. First, had a nice run in the snow, then went grocery-shopping, when a pack of sugar ripped open in my backpack, spilling sugar all over the still wet batteries.

the over driven front axle was twisting the tire sidewall on the front tires and not helping it climb any better. they climb better without the mod where i drive them. very large rock pile it may work.

Ya I was thinking of doing that mod but don’t know a lot about it ....
I was thinking of building up Betty my Jeep just for the rocks but my rocks are a sandstone and in big sheets so I don’t know if that would help or not
But she spins the rear tires when trying to crawl up the faces

The overdrive really helped on my wroncho removed a bunch of the torque twist and the front stays planted much better on steeper climbs.

    Mountains s can't stop me
    They have tried

All the fenders are back on! With screws and a ton of my favourite brutal, bogey-coloured glue. If they come off again, I don't know what else I could do, but I'll worry about that then.
