I am doing a scale Trail truck/Crawler build and I don't know what shocks to purchase for the build
What chassis are you using as it makes a big difference
also, what do you consider cheap, to me, for my crawler, a pair of shocks 20$ or less is inexpensive, but not cheap, cheap is some of the crap you can find at hobbypartz and hobbyking...
I tend to spend 32.99$ US + shipping or tax per pair for all my crawler shocks, I use exclusively superlift from rc4wd
The traxxas slash isn't really a "trail" truck imho it isn't going to be a very capable rig even less so than a Tamiya CC-01 not saying it can't be done but its going to require some heavy modding to be a scale trail rig
I agree i also use only rc4wd OME and King shocks on my builds
agreed with the Slash, but I have seen my slightly modded cc01 do amazing things, and my Wife does some crazy stuff capability-wise with her stock cc01, but it will never be on par with an ascender, scx, wraith and the like, but they are very capable little rigs
They definitely can be lol i meant articulation wise i don't think a slash can achieve even that of a CC-01 which you know is miniscule in comparision to the other big name rigs
I would stick to my original assessment, the superlift from RC4WD... the old man emu ones should be the same but better printing or decals and yellow not white, the super scale ones tend to be a bit cheaper, but also are not the same shocks and have their own sets of springs to adjust them. for my cc01 build I am going with the 70mm super scale for 2 reasons, the size is the same as I need, but they will match the other upgrades, otherwise, they have the super scale in white 70mm but it is not superlift.... similar tho.... also, I know many who run the kings..... great shock.... I would suggest starting a search, even on ebay for whatever length rc crawler shocks (ie: 100mm rc crawler shock) avoid plastic, non adjustable, sometimes getting similar to the kings with a spacer between 2 separate spring rates... I'm not even sure how the Slash got brought into this thread, but what rig are you scaling out?
Well how much are you looking to spend?
Slash is what hes trying to use as a scaler/trail rig
Hmm.... You would need some softer shocks... If you would buy shocks longer that the stock shocks you would get more travel and would boost performance... I've never tried turning a slash into a trail rig... So I'm not sure what would be best...
same length as stock, maybe 10mm longer king dual springs.... And the spring kits, plus some very light oil.... that will be the best bet... imho
That sounds good, But no way to tell till its tried... Seems like a good enough idea though
